Maomao was back home on a vacation and she woke up with a horrible dream as a woman was about to kill her kid. She then realized that the dream occurred because she talked things about Master Jinshi.
Her father then told her to go to Verdigris House for some work. After meeting the usual people she went to the annex and we saw a courtesan with a spreading disease there. There was no available treatment for her but they were still giving her the medicine to relieve a little from her pain. The way Maomao was talking suggested that the courtesan was Maomao’s mother.
She was the same woman that appeared in her dream. The episode was an absolute shocker as things got revealed one after another. Another thing that was revealed is that Lakan is the biological father of Maomao and he asked Jinshi to tell Maomao that he expects to meet her soon but Maomao’s reaction said the opposite. The Apothecary Diaries Episode 18 Recap
In the previous episode, we saw that Master Jinshi was shocked after hearing the answers to his questions. The answers were so uncomfortable but Maomao had to leave and she left him at the place where he was supposed to meet someone. Maomao then went home and woke up to a horrible dream and it was all because she talked about those things to Master Jinshi.
She then visited the Verdigris House and then went to give the woman her medicine in the annex. The condition of that woman was deteriorating with time and the medicine was only to give her some relief. Maomao was then informed that the strange man from earlier appeared again and she should not leave the place until he went.
After some light moments, things got dark again as it was revealed that the strange man Lakan was the biological father of Maomao and the woman with the disease was her mother. Maomao got very excited when she heard from the court lady about the medicine that could cure anything or resurrect a person but it was all lies.
Lakan then met with Jinshi and talked about the story from earlier and then said that he should inform Maomao that he expect her to meet him soon. Jinshi told the same thing to Maomao but Maomao’s expression said a different thing and he said he would do anything in his power to avoid their meeting.
