The anime’s season 4 came out in 2020, the same year Haruichi Furudate ended the manga. Unpredictable Covid conditions halted the production of the anime’s later installments for an uncertain period.

Luckily it seems like the team’s back on it as the franchise has announced the Haikyu!! anime will conclude with a two-part film series.

TOHO Animation’s trailer portrays Hinata and Kageyama’s journey from the start through manga panels and anime scenes. It shows the moment when Karasuno’s Little Giant inspires Shoyo to pursue volleyball and to become a part of the team.

The trailer proceeds to show Shoyo and Tobio’s fateful encounter as opponents during a junior high match.

Throwing us into a pit of emotions, the video composes the team’s highs and lows, making us realize that the boys have come a long way.

As we finish up with their win against Inarizaki, we go back into the past, to the time when Karasuno and Nekoma had a practice match for the first time.

During the previous arcs, the age-old rival teams have challenged each other multiple times, promising to fight each other at the nationals. The dream came true at last when Karasuno beat Inarizaki and made their way up to compete with Nekoma.

The upcoming films will incorporate Nekoma’s battle first and then the consecutive ones, if there are any. I can’t tell you how many matches Karasuno will be playing in the final films because that will give away the biggest spoiler of all!

Will Shoyo finally ignite the fire of passion inside Kenma in this match? We don’t know that yet, but one thing that I can assure you about is that this match will be worth the wait.

About Haikyuu!!

Haikyu!! is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2012 with 42 collected tankōbon volumes released.

Hinata Shoyo is a highly passionate boy who wishes to follow the steps of his idol, ‘The Little Giant’ in the field of volleyball. Hinata’s resolve is unbreakable as he faces gruesome defeat at the hands of the ‘King of the Court,’ a genius prodigy setter Kageyama Tobio in middle school. Hinata’s dreams take fruit as he enters high school.

He joins the declining volleyball team of Karasuno High and is appalled to find the very same Kageyama as his teammate. The story follows the revival of Karasuno High and the unity they maintain to pave their way for nationals.
