While we can’t even imagine living a life completely isolated from our loved ones, poor Bocchan is living through it in Koharu Inoue’s manga Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid (The Duke of Death and His Black Maid). Cursed by a witch during his childhood, Bocchan possesses a power to kill anyone just by a mere touch. His only friend in his isolated abode is a maid named Alice.

This comedic supernatural manga was an immediate favorite for us fans. While we were patiently waiting for an anime adaptation, the publishers Shogakukan surprised us with the news.
That’s right folks! The Duke of Death and His Black Maid is getting its very own anime adaptation made by Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment. The official website for the anime also unveiled the cast, staff, teaser trailer and visuals.
The trailer showcases a beautiful connection forming between our cursed duke Bocchan and his beautiful maid Alice. While Bocchan can’t even touch Alice without harming her life, Alice is seen teasing the poor duke by being too close for comfort.

About The Duke of Death and His Black Maid
The Duke of Death and His Black Maid is a 2017 supernatural manga by Koharu Inoue. The manga has since published its 10th Volume as of October 2020.
The story revolves around a young duke named Bocchan who was cursed by a witch in his childhood. His curse can kill anything he touches, making him completely isolated from his loved ones to save their lives. He lives in a mansion on his own but is accompanied by his maid and butler.
He has quite the relationship with his maid Alice and the two grow closer throughout the story.
Publishers Shogakukan are adapting the manga into an anime series that will soon be released in 2021.
