TNT’s Snowpiercer Returning With A Second Season

TNT has announced the arrival of season two of the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer with a teaser and premiere date. The train carrying the last of the human civilization will be coming to television screens once more with a brand-new story and three new characters. Strap up to be intrigued by the deeply embedded evils of society and have your beliefs questioned.

The first season saw Daveed Diggs’ character, Layton, organize a revolution to take control of the Snowpiercer. The relationship between the people of the First Class and the Tailies (Third Class) was fraught since the beginning and a series of murders in the Tail sparked an unavoidable revolt.

With the food rations quickly shrinking and the Tailies giving in to fighting, chaos descends on the train. Outside, Mr Wilford, the big bad and the supposed designer of the Snowpiercer attempts to invade it by coupling it to another train called the Big Alice. As Jennifer Connelly’s character Melanie moves outside to uncouple the train, she is flung off it. Later, she is approached by her daughter, whom she thought was dead, who is working as Mr Wilford’s protégé.

Sean Bean, famous for playing Ned Stark in Game Of Thrones, has joined the cast as Mr Wilford. Melanie’s daughter Alexandra will be played by Rowan Blanchard. Steven Ogg will also join the main cast in the second season.

Snowpiercer’s season two will premiere on TNT on January 25th, 2021.

If you haven’t watched the top-rated dystopian thriller yet, you can stream the first season on HBO Max on January 1, 2021.

About Snowpiercer

When the earth turns into a frigid wasteland, the remaining members of human society are packed into a train that perpetually circles the globe. But even on the train, humans are divided by class and the people of the lower class are mistreated every day. Amidst the rising tensions, will they kill each other or die of natural causes?

Snowpiercer is a reboot of the 2013 film of the same name, directed by Parasite-director Bong Joon Ho. The series and the book are adapted from the French graphic novel La Transperceneige which portrays a jarring image of class struggle, discrimination and social justice.
