Top 20 Most Powerful Hunter x Hunter Characters of All Time

Nobody expected Hunter x Hunter to gain fresh content, but as of the end of November 2022, HxH has 396 chapters – with more on the way!

We now have a fairly complete picture of Togashi’s universe, with threats from the Dark Continent looming and new individuals like Tserriednich progressively rising through the ranks. Of course, there are a few people who have yet to appear, such as Don Freecs and Zigg Zoldyck, but we can be certain they are Nen gods.

With so many old, new, and forthcoming characters, a fresh power-scaling list is in order!

The characters will be ranked based on their aura, Nen proficiency, physical strength, experience, and fighting aptitude.

20. Razor

Razor, one of Greed Island’s Game Masters and creators, acted as the last boss of the Plot of Beach quest and is a formidable foe for Phantom Troupe members to battle with.

He is one of Ging’s followers, therefore his Nen talents and combat prowess are unsurprising. His sheer presence is enough to keep numerous inmates competent in Nen in line. He literally has aura balls as strong as steel that can casually smash your head.

19. Illumi Zoldyck

Illumi, the eldest child of Silva Zoldyk and a member of the Phantom Troupe, is almost as powerful as Hisoka, though we haven’t seen much of his strength.

Illumi has the ability to control both the minds and bodies of the living and the dead. His weapons are three sets of needles that can be imbued with Nen. The first allows him to change his appearance, the second to brainwash opponents when implanted in their heads, and the third to control and influence targets.

He can even control corpses and build Needle puppets.

18. Morel and Nobunaga

Morel has to be one of the coolest dudes around. He channels his Nen through his smoking pipe, which he also employs as a weapon.

He can build muscle and boost his strength. His students include skilled fighters like Knuckle and Shoot. Morel’s aura pool was only second to Youpi’s and three times higher than Gon’s, according to Knuckle. He was able to defeat Pouf and Youpi while also surviving a fatal attack.

The Phantom Troupe’s most important member is Nobunaga. Killua compared his power to Hisoka’s. He’s a great swordsman, and everyone who enters his assault zone is dead meat.

He also has a powerful aura that can frighten Gon, Killua, and Leorio, but his Nen ability is unknown.

Little is known about her abilities, however Ging hinted that her Nen might be stronger than Pariston, a past Zodiac.

16. Botobai and Mizaistom and Kanzai

Botobai (Dragon), Mizaistom (Ox), and Kanzai (Tiger) are all extremely powerful Zodiac members. Botobai and Kanzai are members of the Dark Continent voyage’s Defense Team, while Mizaistorm is a member of the Intelligence Team.

Botobai, as a Triple-Star Terrorist Hunter, may be slightly stronger than the other two; his authority in the Hunter Association is only second to Cheadle’s.

Mizaistom is a Double-Star Hunter with unrivaled intelligence. Apart from Cheadle and Kurapika, he is one of three persons who recognize there must be a mole among the Zodiacs.

Sure, he’s Issac Netero’s son, so he’s had to be a dynamo. He is presently in command of the Dark Continent Expedition and several powerful Hunters.

Beyond is a master manipulator, capable of convincing world leaders to support his agenda. He made it through the Dark Continent, thus he must have incredible Nen powers.

14. Feitan Portor

Feitan is the Phantom Troupe’s fifth-strongest member and de facto commander after Chrollo Lucilfer.

He possesses amazing power and stamina, but it is his speed that distinguishes him from the other Phantoms. He’s also a skilled swordsman, easily deflecting Zazan’s assaults.

Feitan can use Rising Sun to transform his aura into a mini-sun. The heat creates widespread devastation and would have killed all other Troupe members if they had remained until he fully ignited it.

13. Hisoka Morow

Hisoka, a former member of the Phantom Troupe, is a Hunter who is always hunting for tough adversaries – despite the fact that he is presently hiding from a slew of people in the manga.

He refers to himself as the Magician and wields a slew of devastating tricks with his Nen-infused playing cards. These cards are razor-sharp enough to sever bone.

Hisoka has demonstrated skill in Conjuration, Emission, Enhancement, and, on rare occasions, Manipulation, which he combined with post-mortem Nen for an improved Bungee Gum attack. Because of his post-Mortem Nen, Hisoka may be stronger than Silva

12. Silva Zoldyck

Silva Zoldyck is the current head of the uber-powerful Zoldyk family and possesses superhuman control over his body as a result of years of assassin training.

He possesses increased durability and is immune to Chrollo’s poison attacks. Silva’s Explosive Orbs are essentially two active explosives that he may toss and destroy buildings with.

These orbs belong to the Emission and Transmutation types, and Silva has power over Enhancement, as evidenced when he kills Cheetu from the Phantom Troupe.

11. Zeno Zoldyck

Zeno is Silva’s father and Killua’s grandfather. He is a Nen master, capable of pushing the Phantom Troupe’s leader, Chrollo Lucilfer, to his limits. Pitou, Mereum’s strongest fighter, was ecstatic to face someone with that level of Nen.

Zeno may transform his aura into a dragon, projectile it, or simply use it for transportation. He can also manipulate this dragon with his hands without having to emit his aura, indicating that he is skilled in both Transmutation and Emission.

10. Chrollo Lucilfer

To put it simply, Chrollo Lucilfer is the best Nen user in the series and the leader of the Phantom Troup. He teamed up against Zeno and Silva to take their Nen while also seeking to defeat them.

The Nen skills of his opponents are easy prey for Chrollo, who may steal them and use them to his advantage. He can utilize numerous Nen abilities together. Because of this, he has a combat style that can change to suit any situation.

Because he knew about the Sun and Moon, as shown in Chap 352. Chrollo can also post-mortem Nen.

9. Neferpitou and Shaiapouf

Type (Pouf) – Manipulation

Pitou and Pouf serve as two of Meruem’s three Royal Guards.

Pitou was strong enough to withstand a direct strike from King Mereum, Netero’s 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva attack, and numerous hits from Adult-Jajanken: Gon’s Rock attack.

Pitou possessed exceptional instincts, intelligence, and strength. They could learn and produce Nen skills in minutes, and their En were extremely powerful.

They even made Netero question if they were stronger than him. Pitou’s combat talents and strength are far superior to those of most other characters. Terpsichora was able to stay after Pitou died and sever Gon’s arm.

Pouf focused on speed and tactical skill more than strength. He was able to take down a tank like Morel while avoiding Zeno’s strike. He was also tough enough to withstand Meruem’s tail whip. Pouf’s unique ability was to bestow Nen on others.

Pouf was more of a healer than a fighter, able to heal his own and others’ ailments with Nen. He had complete control over every cell in his body and could use Beelzebub to produce clones.

8. Menthuthuyoupi

Youpi was the youngest and strongest of Meruem’s three Royal Guards. Colt was confident that he could defeat Netero.

Youpi could use his aura to boost his strength and shapeshift. Unknowingly, he exploited his wrath to feed his Nen talents, becoming Rage Incarnate, a diabolical centaur-like creature capable of deflecting almost any strike.

He never seems to run out of aura, which is surprising given his sharp temper.

He faced and withstood an assault of attacks from Shoot, Knuckle Bine, Meleoron, Morel, and Killua on his own.

7. Ging Freecss

Ging was named one of the top five Nen users in the world by Isaac Netero. Ging has long been known for his power, but we have yet to see it fully in action.

He is a Double-Star Ruins Hunter who can read the Inscriptions on Nen-affected runes. He has a genius-level mind, was a co-creator of Greed Island, and can easily manipulate people, even strangers.

He can mimic Nen skills, as seen in his fight with Leorio, but he can also perform numerous Emission Nen techniques; his type may be Emission, but this has yet to be proven.

6. Isaac Netero

Isaac Netero, former Chairman of the Hunter Association, is one of the finest characters and Nen users to have ever lived.

Netero’s Nen aura, as well as abilities such as the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Ninety-Ninth Hand, and the Zero Hand, had the potential to unleash unfathomable power. The Bodhisattva granted him access to an endless number of attacks that could be executed at a speed that was too quick for human vision.

Meruem was taken aback by the quickness. Netero’s aura was condensed into a tremendous beam of light that could consume anything with the Zero Hand. Netero’s Rose kills not just Meruem, but also Pouf and Youpi. Netero was also the only Hunter to have survived two excursions to the Dark Continent, which had a 0.04% survival rate.

5. Maha Zoldyck

Maha Zoldyck, the eldest living member of the Zoldyck family, is the most powerful Nen user in Hunter x Hunter. Isaac Netero, the world’s most powerful Nen user, was the only person capable of confronting and surviving Maha.

Maha’s Nen is unlikely to have waned with age, since Netero’s did not.

The Maha Zoldyck could be the same guy as Zigg Zoldyck, the famous explorer who accompanied Netero to the Dark Continent. Surviving the DC is no easy task.

4. Meruem

Meruem was the Chimera Ants’ king and the most powerful figure to appear in the series. His Nen ability allowed him to eat others’ Nen, aura, and strength. Except for the last, he was able to deflect all of Netero’s assaults.

Meruem became more stronger after Rose because of the nutrients he received from Pouf and Youpi. He extended his combat range, blasted mountains, and transmuted his aura into photons of light. He became the series’ fastest and strongest character, until he died as a result of Netero’s poison.

3. Don Freecss

In Hunter x Hunter, Don Freecss is the strongest human. He wrote “Journey to the New World,” a travelogue about the Dark Continent that paved the way for six additional missions. He probably experienced the 5 Disasters while circumnavigating the Mobius coastline.

Don, if still alive, is over 300 years old, which suggests he played a role in the formation of the Hunter Association. He is also likely an ancestor of the Freecss.

He went in search of wonder compounds such as Nitro Rice and was able to at least approach the Disasters, if not battle and survive them. In addition, he had to have slain a slew of creatures to get there.

In any case, Don has visited the Dark Continent and has likely spent enough time there to have written at least two whole books about it. This alone demonstrates his power.

We have yet to see what Don Freecks is capable of, but he will undoubtedly be the strongest man in the Hunter x Hunter universe.

2. The 4 Dark Continent Disasters

The 5 Great Disasters, also known as Calamities or Threats, are the results of humanity’s excursion to the Dark Continent.

Brion is a botanical weapon, Hellbell is a two-tailed serpent, Pap is a human-keeper, Zobae is an immortality disease, and Ai is a gaseous form of life.

These four disasters pose a greater threat than even the Chimera Ants, making them more hazardous than Mereum himself. Each of these disasters has the potential to wipe out the human species.

1. Nanika/Ai

Nanika, also known as Ai, is the most powerful character in Hunter x Hunter. Ai, a gaseous lifeform, is one of the Dark Continent’s Five Threats. Nanika possesses endless Hatsu as well as the capacity to grant wishes. Ai, alias Nanika, is unfathomably powerful and has the ability to wipe out humanity.

The manga does not explicitly state that Nanika and Ai are the same creature, but the evidence of their victims suggests otherwise. Their speech patterns, physical appearance, and “codependence of desire” all point to them being the same person.

After returning from the Dark Continent, an Ai being gaseous had to become imprisoned in a body that could hold it.

Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter is a Shonen anime based on the same-named manga.
