‘Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru’ Film Trilogy Reveals a Jolly Trailer for Part 2

Filled with good-looking human versions of historical swords and loads of action and comedy, Touken Ranbu is the dream anime for anyone who’s a lover of legendary katanas.

From uchigatana and ootachi to tantou and tachi, this anime has human versions of them, all with eccentric personalities. With their charming looks, outstanding swordsmanship, and hilarious comic timing, the anime has won the hearts of many and continues to do so with its latest film trilogy.

Since Toku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Setsugetsuka~ part 1 came out in May, the anime’s hype is at an all-time high. Following this, the franchise decided to drop a new trailer for part 2 titled ‘Tsuki no Maki’ (Moon Story). It is slated to come out on July 8, 2022.

Compared to the previous part, this one is more upbeat and cheerful as the sword boys enjoy their summer with seasonal activities like surfing, going to the beach, and enjoying lots of delicacies. They are also seen using their skills to set up tents for camping, stargazing, and barbecues.

It also previews the movie’s theme song, “Hana no Utage,” by the main cast members Mitsuhiro Ichiki and Toshiki Masuda as their characters Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu. The song feels like summer itself and perfectly fits the energy of the video.

In part 1, the boys were given a critical and risky mission to complete by their master. Fortunately, they finished it successfully with no major casualties. However, part 2 is all about relaxing and unwinding as all the swords engage in various activities and hobbies during this peaceful time.

Additionally, the franchise has also revealed a key visual of the boys enjoying fireworks while styling some traditional yukatas.

It’s true that the anime has never been all serious and includes many hilarious scenes and dynamics. But if there’s a movie full of gags and our beloved boys enjoying their vacation, then you’ll definitely find me at the premiere.

That being said, I hope the film gets a global release soon.

About Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru is an anime series produced by Doga Kobo, directed by Takashi Naoya and written by Pierre Sugiura. It is based on the video game Touken Ranbu. The game features beautiful characters inspired and named after famous historical swords of Japan’s past.

It follows the human versions of legendary Japanese swords preventing the ‘historical retrogade army’ from altering history.
