Upcoming City Hunter Film to Feature Characters From Lupin The Third
City Hunter is a nostalgic series from the late 90s that was adapted into a Korean drama, a Hong Kong film, and has spinoff manga to big-screen releases. The series has everything.
The upcoming film is also trying to blast us with nostalgia by including characters from the famous classic anime. Here’s all the information you need to know about the crossover.
The official website for the upcoming film City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust announced today it will collaborate with two popular franchises: the Lupin The Third anime series and Tama & Friends.
In the film, Lupin the Third and Daisuke Jigen from the “Lupin the Third” anime series appear in the scene where Ryo Saeba and Kaoru Makimura get into a car chase with Pirarucu and Espada of the Wetworks assassination team.
Meanwhile, Tama from Tama & Friends appears on the smartphone of Kaori, who is searching for Angie’s cat at her request. Angie is an overseas movie producer who came to Japan to shoot a movie of her cat traveling throughout Japan.
The following screenshots from the film featuring them have been released.
City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust will open in Japan on September 8. Anime Limited will screen the film in North America, the U.K., and Ireland in 2024.
Ryo will be voiced once by Akira Kamiya, much to the delight of the fans, as Kamiya’s voice brings life to this role. The film’s new characters and cast have also been announced. And here is the list.
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Angie | Miyuki Sawashiro | Demon Slayer (Daki) |
Shin Kaibara | Kenyuu Horiuchi | My Happy Marriage (Minoru Tatsuishi) |
Pirarucu | Tomokazu Seki | Demon Slayer (Sanemi Shinazugawa) |
Espada | Subaru Kimura | Doraemon (Gian) |
The film will focus on the past of Ryo Saeba and the death of his old partner, Hideyuki Makimura. It will also revolve around Angel Dust, which was important in the original series.
The anime appeals mainly to the fans of the classic anime. However, I believe everyone should give this series and the movie a try, as it is bound to impress.
