We all know the story of America. Christopher Columbus was on the search for India and he chanced upon America, which he mistook for India. He named the natives, the Red Indians!
Thorfinn and his crew are somewhat in a similar situation. Searching for Vinland and meeting the natives!
It is nice to see Thorfinn immersed in agriculture. He is not fighting a war, but he has a different battle to fight. Everyone has their responsibilities – Einar’s is to ensure the best methods in cultivation and bring out success in agriculture.
And so far, he is doing very well. Reminds us of the Slave Arc, seems such a long time ago!
The Vinland Arc is going very smoothly, and our heroes are progressing rapidly. But it seems like Vinland Saga Manga 184 will present our protagonist with his first real challenge.
As skilled as he is in battle, it is not what he should use. Thorfinn needs to be an expert in negotiation to pull this off!

Vinland Saga has been created by Makoto Yukimura, who is both the author and the artist. It currently gets published in Kodansha’s monthly magazine for seinen titles, named Afternoon.
While other monthly series contain more than 40 pages, this manga surprisingly posts 15-30 pages every month!
The raw scans of Vinland Saga 184 will be out on the last week of June, 2021, somewhere around the 24th we believe. This will be the original version in Japanese, and it needs translation.
Fan translations for Vinland Saga manga 184 will arrive around the 25th to 27th of June, 2021. The scanlation for this series is quite efficient and cleanly done. You have to google for them.
Unfortunately, Vinland Saga does not have a chapter by chapter English release. However, it does publish volumes in English and we highly recommend all of you fans to buy these volumes.
Honestly, we can’t emphasize more on the importance of volume purchase.

Why are the forests being cleared?
To survive, we need food and the best way to have that is via agriculture. Thorfinn and his group are busy clearing the forests so that they have the fields to cultivate crops.
Additionally, Einar feels that using ash on the red soil will boost production. We might find out in Vinland Saga 184 or later, if Einar’s theory pans out or not.
40 Europeans are hard at work, clearing the forest to get a field, make an honest living for themselves, build a better tomorrow!
Why are the natives wary of Thorfinn and his company?
We are somewhat relieved that the natives are not seeing Thorfinn’s arrival as an invasion. If that was the case, things would have elevated very quickly! Fortunately, the natives are only curious for now. They are not the least bit hostile and are simply observing the foreigners.
Thorfinn’s constant gifts have made many of the indigenous folk warm towards him and his people. However, they are not completely sure. One of them even thought that ash being spread on the field might be some spell!
Plus, they are worried for food, since they think these forests are the only ways to get it.
Vinland Saga Chapter 184 will show what conclusion these folks came to. They have been considering their course of action. Their numbers are low and it isn’t like they are keen on fighting.
However, the word of the advising shaman, or Puowin, did shake them up.
What will be the natives’ choice?
Puowin told the people about the foreigners and their purpose. He gave a clear understanding of things. Now they are presented with a choice.
Either, the natives can allow field creation and get great food easily, or they can keep receiving the blessing of the trees since field creation destroys the natural balance.
Vinland Saga 184 will show first contact. It will be a great negotiation before Thorfinn manages to create a healthy wheat field next year.
If this contact does not go well, Thorfinn might have to leave the island! We are going to find out soon.
