In Episode 22 of Vinland Saga Season 2, Thorfinn faces Canute in a boxing match that has been reduced to one hundred blows courtesy of Drott.
Iron Fist Ketil was no match for King Canute’s well-trained Vikings, as we saw in the previous episode. After the farmers retreated for their own safety, the fighting stopped. Since Ketil could not make any further decisions regarding the battle, it was now up to the next head of the family.
Olmar, newly appointed Ketil clan chief, chose to surrender to King Canute rather than continue the conflict. Thorgil, his brother, was understandably upset by this decision because he wanted to keep fighting, but he left without saying anything to him. Thorfinn also went to see his old pal Canute, but Canute did not appear to be all that enthusiastic about it.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 21: Summary
In the previous episode, we saw that Ketil’s amateur army lost the battle very easily and suffered an excessive number of casualties for such a small force. The commander of the Jomvikings requested that King Canute attack the village in accordance with tradition, but Canute declined, stating that the Ketil Clan had not yet responded.
Einar, devastated by Arnheid’s death, recognized that Thorfinn is about to do something foolish. Olmar was incapable of enduring even a moment of witnessing the battle’s destruction. As his father Iron Fist Ketil was unable to make a decision, it was up to Olmar to determine the next course of action in the ongoing conflict.
Even though his brother Thorgil wants to fight, Olmar accepted his role as successor and surrendered to the royal family. Snake has stated that he will stand by the patriarch no matter what he decides to do.

After that, Thorgil walked away silently. Thorfinn was surrounded by Canute’s soldiers, and the king turned down his request to meet with him. The King himself appeared to have no interest in meeting with Throfinn. The soldiers quickly turned the confrontation into a game by placing wagers on how many blows Thorfinn could take.
Then he made a wager on himself, and the fight was decided by a hundred blows. He could meet King Canute if he could take a hundred punches from a King’s guard soldier. He assured Einar that he was used to getting punched and that he was paying back the farm for what it had given him.
