Watch The Tales Of The Abyss For Free!

Many dope anime have been adapted from equally stellar video games. While the two art mediums are very different forms of storytelling where games give you control over your fate, the anime lets you chill while giving you the time to watch your fav characters play out their lives. The Tales Of The Abyss is one such video game whose PS2 version has sold over 700,000 copies when it was launched.

Namco had to reprint the 3DS version 3-4 times to keep up with continuous demand for the title.  That’s why when an anime adaptation was announced, everyone had already expected it and hence, wasn’t even slightly shocked. Bandai Namco produced a 26-episode anime version more than a decade back and still, it has a loyal fan following.

Recently, Namco announced that it’ll be airing the anime for absolutely free. The first episode is already available online and the second episode is set to be released on January 1, 2022. The episodes will be released regularly at set regular intervals on YouTube.

This is to commemorate the one-year anniversary of its YouTube channel. The anime will be streamed in Japanese but with English subtitles.

 Game Reception

Tales of the Abyss originated as an action-RPG for the Sony Playstation 2 in 2005. The game’s engrossing gameplay was commended, while the narrative’s reliance on genre clichés and poor pacing was panned. Despite this, it remains one of the franchise’s most well-regarded installments.

In 2011, a version for the Nintendo 3DS was published, adding stereoscopic 3D graphics and touch screen shortcuts to the game.
