26th Detective Conan Film to Premiere During Golden Week 2023
On November 8, the official website for the Detective Conan anime feature film released a 30-second teaser trailer. It revealed that the 26th film in the franchise is set to premiere during Golden Week in Japan next year, which will rum from April 29 to May 5, 2023.
The teaser trailer focuses on the character Ai Haibara as she seems to be in distress. The trailer also hints that the film’s subtitle contains the word “kuro,” which is the kanji letter for black. The subtitle may directly reference the plot’s overarching antagonist group, the Black Organization.
The Detective Conan film franchise is based on the Goushou Aoyama’s Shogakukan-published manga published in English as Detective Conan by Shogakukan Asia and as Case Closed by Viz media.
The manga began publishing in 1994 and, as of September 2022, has 102 tankouban volumes. The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. The manga has been adapted into a TV anime that began in 1996 and is currently ongoing.
The plot of Detective Conan follows a precocious high school student named Jimmy Kudo, who uses his keen powers of observation and astute intuition to solve mysteries that even law enforcement officials are unable to solve.
When he was working on catching one suspect, in particular, he was captured and force-fed a strange chemical that physically transformed him into a child. After assuming the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, he attempts to find the people who did this to him.
Jimmy now tirelessly searches for a cure for his bizarre condition while continuing to help the police solve their toughest cases.
The previous 25th film in the Detective Conan franchise, The Bride Of Halloween, was released in Japan on April 15 this year and is currently the 44th top-grossing film in the country with 9.68 billion yen (65.99 million USD) in revenue.
The 25th film is the highest-grossing film in the Detective Conan franchise so far, surpassing the 23rd film, The Fist of Blue Sapphire.
The 26th addition to this franchise is one that fans eagerly look forward to.
