With the ongoing Season 5 and the manga entering its final arc, the hype around My Hero Academia is at an all-time high. Being an avid manga reader myself I can’t wait to see all of it animated and come to life.
But in the meantime, if you guys are looking for some anime like My Hero Academia to watch between the weekly episodes of Season 5, I have made a list for you.
To refresh your memories, Boku no Hero Academia revolves around Izuku Midoriya whose dream of becoming a hero like All Might came to an end after knowing that he is quirkless.
But after a miraculous encounter with All Might, his dream of becoming a hero rekindled as he was chosen as the successor of All Might’s quirk by the number one hero himself.
This story displays friendship, courage, self-belief, and lots of high-octane action sequences that will keep you entertained throughout Deku’s journey of becoming the number one hero. So, without any further ado let’s begin the list of top 10 anime like My Hero Academia.
10. Tiger & Bunny
Tiger & Bunny will take you on a nostalgic ride with a classic hero narrative.
In the city of Stern Bild, people with special abilities are called NEXT, some use it for the good while others don’t.
And to stop the misuse of those abilities and also to raise their popularity among brands, a group of NEXT appears on Hero TV to hunt the offenders.
Among them, there’s Wild Tiger, a veteran hero whose popularity is off the charts lately and soon gets partnered with a brand new hero named Bunny. They can’t get along well but for the sake of the city’s safety, they are trying their best to work together.
9. One Punch Man
One Punch Man is about a bald overpowered hero who is bored due to a lack of strong villains.
After three years of relentless training and losing all his hair, Saitama’s childhood dream of becoming a hero came true. But soon the thrill was gone as every villain was brought down by a single punch of his.
This changed when he came across Genos, a cyborg who is so fascinated by Saitam’s strength that he became his disciple.
After which he asked Saitama to get certified as an official hero by the Hero Association as he was not famous. Saitama wanting to be recognized as a hero quickly agreed to it.
8. Assassination Classroom
Assassination Classroom is a bittersweet story about the teacher-student relationship that will leave you in tears.
Ever heard of a teacher who has tentacles and can fly at a speed of Mach 20? Yes, Kuro sensei of Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Middle School can do that with his octopus-shaped body.
But there’s a twist in this tale, the students of this class have to assassinate their beloved teacher before he destroys the remaining half of the moon, the other half being destroyed already.
However, with each passing day, the students realize that besides being a target for their assassin, Kuro sensei is the best teacher they ever had and the emotions are getting in their way of the assassination.
7. Little Witch Academia
Little witch Academia illustrates Atsuko’s strong will to never give up on her dreams of becoming a witch.
You can’t become a witch if you can’t use magic, these words were nothing but a mere obstacle in Atsuko Kagari’s path of becoming a witch. Inspired by Shiny Chariot, a renowned witch in her childhood, Atsuko was never demotivated by the fact that she had a non-magical background.
Finally getting into Luna Nova Magical Academy Atsuko makes friends with Lotte and Sucy both with contrasting characters. Suddenly one day after discovering Chariot’s wand she claims it for herself.
But soon after getting cornered for her lack of skills as a witch, Atsuko stood for herself challenging them. And thus began her journey to become a witch amongst others with far superior skills.
6. Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Katekyo Hitman Reborn is about a baby hitman training a clumsy middle schoolboy to be the next mafia boss.
The Vongola family is the strongest Mafia family in Italy. But with the current boss retiring soon they are looking for someone worthy to take over the title of the ninth boss. And for that, they have sent Reborn, a baby hitman to train Tsunayoshi Sawada.
But making someone like Sawada worthy of being a mafia boss is intimidating as he is known as “Loser Tsuna” throughout his middle school for his clumsiness, who is also hopelessly in love with the school idol Kyouko Sasagawa.
And thus Reborn begins his nearly impossible mission to transform clumsy Sawada into the ninth boss of the Vongola family.
5. Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann describes the idiom of “The Sky’s the Limit” through an incredible mecha adventure.
Humanity has been forced to survive deep underground as the Beastmen rules the surface. Simon and Kamina are both inhabitants of an underground village.
While Simon is quiet and does drilling all day, Kamina is like a bull on the loose. But one day after getting attacked from the surface by a beastmen, Simon saves the village by finding an ignition key to an ancient mecha head.
Along with Yoko Littner, a gunslinger from the surface who helped them in their battle, both Kamina and Simon reach the surface with the sky in their plain view. And soon they decide to fight against beastmen with the help of human-driven giant robots called Gunmen.
4. Naruto
Naruto encourages us to accept our imperfections through a heartwarming and action-packed story of Ninjas.
To save Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village from the claws of Kyuubi, the giant Nine-Tailed Fox, the Fourth Hokage sacrificed his life to seal away the beast in his own newborn Naruto.
Growing up Naruto was shunned by the inhabitants of Konohagakure and was feared for being the host of the nine-tailed beast that destroyed the village once in the past.
But that didn’t stop Naruto from dreaming big as his desire to become Hokage of the village was lively as ever. And on his journey of becoming the Hokage, he will make some good friends and some deadly foes who will not hesitate a moment to take his life away.
3. Black Clover
A Demon’s host dreams to become the Wizard King against all odds, that’s what Black Clover is about.
Growing up in a church with other abandoned children, Asta and Yuno always dreamt of becoming the strongest mage in the kingdom, the Wizard King. However, with time, Yuno became skillful at controlling magic while Asta couldn’t even use it.
After turning 15, everyone is chosen by a grimoire depending on their magic. While Yuno got the legendary four-leaf clover Asta didn’t get one due to his lack of magic.
Soon after the ceremony, Asta got the mysterious five-leaf “Black Clover” which emerged from his strong will to save Yuno from the Lebuty who attacked him to steal the legendary grimoire. And after defeating Lebuty both of them began their journey to become the next Wizard King.
2. One Piece
Follow your dreams no matter what, One Piece conveys that strong message through a Pirate’s adventure.
The final words of the “Pirate King” Gol D. Roger just before the execution were about the existence of the greatest treasure One Piece that influenced the beginning of the Great Pirate Era.
Among them was 17-year old Monkey D. Luffy whose dream of becoming the next Pirate King was sowed in his heart when his life was saved by a pirate in childhood.
For Luffy, there are no ideals and he doesn’t want to become a hero, he just wants to sail out on a never-forgetting adventure to find One Piece. And thus began the adventure where he will gather a crew to fight against the strong enemies who will stand in his way to find the One Piece.
1. Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen brilliantly portrays the intricacies of human emotions through the world of curses and sorcery.
Yuji Itadori chose the inactive and fun occult club in high school that allowed him to visit his bedridden grandfather at any given moment.
Everything was fine until he picked up a sinister curse object as a fun chore for the club without knowing about it.
Following which the two members of the club were attacked by supernatural beings due to the cursed object which is the finger of the infamous Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. Though they were saved eventually by sorcerers, circumstances made Yuji pursue the life of sorcerers at Jujutsu Technical High School, a point where he cannot return to his normal life.
