MHA World Heroes Mission Outsells the Previous Movie by 200 Percent

My Hero Academia movies seem to do better each time they come out. We all knew  My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission was going to be a success, but the film might just be on its way to break a few records. 

With a banger of an opening weekend, the movie is already on its way to outshine the previous two movies. Not that we are surprised, given all the promotion and hype.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission movie has earned over 940 million Yen (about $8.5 million dollars) in the first four days of its release. The movie has sold over 720,000 tickets and ranked second on the weekend box office just behind Wild Speed Jet Break (Fast and Furious 9).

The movie “Hiroaka” made a good start, and the box office exceeded 940 million yen.

The third movie of the franchise has outsold My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising’s opening haul by a staggering 200 percentand has already earned more than half the total sales for My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.

If the current trend continues, the movie might just overtake the previous movie’s sales of $28 million dollars in under a month, and that is from Japanese sales alone. The success of the movie isn’t just because of the brand alone, but it also has something to do with the story as well.

The movie revolves around Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki, and other students in internships teaming up with pro heroes overseas to disable bombs set by a terrorist organization, Humanize.

Unlike other original movies of the franchise, this movie directly picks up from the end of the Endeavor Agency Arc in the anime. One of Kohei Horikoshi’s assistants even wrote a special one-shot which serves as a short prequel to the movie.

It has not been even a week, but the movie is already creating buzz all around. The only place it can go from now is up.

About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected in 24 tankōbon volumes as of August 2019.

It follows a quirkless boy Izuku Midoriya and how he backed the greatest Hero alive. Midoriya, a boy who has been admiring heroes and their ventures since the day he was born, came into this world without a quirk.
