Jump Comics Launches Audio Manga Ft. Voices of Yui Ogura And Toshiki Masuda
Audio-Comics seem like all the rage these days, with One Piece leading the pack with its latest “Monster” spinoff.
However, what seems like a niche concept is taking on full force with the backing of Shonen Jump Comics. Imagine having your favorite anime voice actors voicing your beloved manga series, which is going to give even more dimensions to your favorite characters.
It seems like a match made in heaven!
Shonen Jump Comics, through its official youtube channel, will be releasing voiced comics starring high-profile voice actors like Yui Ogura and Toshiki Masuda.
The selected works include Nakama Tadaichi’s Great Tokyo Demon Bride Den (Dai Tokyo Oniyome-den) and Uemura Taishin’s Oblivion Monk (Boukyaku no Souryo).
*English names of these series might not be accurate
“Great Tokyo Demon Bride Den,” starring Yui Ogura, premiered on the youtube channel on 20th July, followed by its second part on the next day. Unfortunately, only the Japanese audio is available for the audio manga for now.
The cast of Great Tokyo Demon Bride Den Includes:
Character | Cast | Notable Work |
Aihi Doji | Yui Ogura | Vanica Zogratis (Black Clover) |
Hanafuda | Yoko Asada | Juri Katou (Digimon Tamers) |
Sumire | Haruna Kuramoto | Happy-Go-Lucky Days |
“Oblivion Monk,” starring Toshiki Masuda, will be released on 24th July, followed by its second part on 25th July.
The cast of Oblivion Monks include:
Characters | Cast | Notable Works |
Saito | Toshiki Masuda | Eijirou Kirishima (Boku no Hero Academia) |
Lilith | Goro Inagaki | Scarlet |
Sage Kiku | Yuna Ogata | Passerby (Higehiro) |
These videos show us the exciting next step forward for the manga industry as they blur the line between manga and anime. Though both the series were a bit unknown outside of Japan, One Piece’s upcoming audio-comic will bridge that gap as well.
Why are Mangas Black and White, not Colored? Comics vs. Manga
Hopefully, we will see even more projects like these over the coming months, and some of them might be multilingual for international fans!
Those adventurous about the new format can experience them for free on the Jump Comic channel, so grab yourself some popcorn and enjoy!
