Demon Slayer Season 3: Renewed!
On the day of the release of the final episode of Demon Slayer Season 2, the makers made a note of blasting their socials with the announcement of Demon Slayer Season 3. The official pages of Studio Ufotable, Shonen, and Viz shared the poster of the third season. So, the third season will be titled “Swordsmith Village Arc.” After Mugen Train and Entertainment District Arc, this is the ninth story arc from the manga. Has The Production Begun?
As of now, the makers have not revealed anything in regard to the production of the third season. Further, animation company Studio Ufotable has also not made any official announcement on whether the third season has begun production or not. Judging by the time at which the announcement has come, it can be assumed that Demon Slayer Season 3 is yet to get a green production flag. Additionally, the preview video of the season itself was nothing more than two motion posters sewed together. This confirms the fact that the third season is far from getting animated anytime soon.

The Swordsmith Village arc begins right after Tanjiro and the team reach back to the Demon Slayer Corps HQ. The first thing that Tanjiro decides to do is get his sword repaired. But this time, Hataru Haganezuka refuses to repair the sword and advises him to go to the Swordsmith Village as he would find a permanent solution there. In the village, he is accompanied by the love hashira Mitsuri Kanroji and Denya Shinazugawa. But soon after, Tanjiro finds out that Hatoru has gone missing.
Without drawing out the entire plot of the manga, fans must know that there will be an Upper Ranking demon intervention in this place. The fifth ranking Kizuki Demon, Hantengu will hinder the hunt for the mysterious object. And so forth, the arc will build up towards the ultimate fight with the Kizuki as Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Mitsuri will fight the demon, sending a strong message to Muzan Kibutsuji.
Manga Compared To Anime
So far, the Demon Slayer anime series has been covering the manga in chronological order. In the second season, Entertainment District Arc ended up using the first 97 chapters of the manga. In total, there are 205 chapters in the manga. Further, the Swordsmith Village Arc contains 29 chapters in total, which is more than enough to culminate an entire season. After this, the series will enter the decisive act of the story, the Hashira Training Arc. All in all, Demon Slayer can go on for more than five seasons if the source material is traced.
Demon Slayer Season 3: Release Date
At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Demon Slayer Season 3. The official renewal announcement did not give away any release slate for the new season. However, it is notable that all of the season and movie releases of DS have been in the fall. Thus, it can be assumed that Studio Ufotable will be ready with the third season in a year’s time. Thus, the next season might find a release slate somewhere in the Fall 2022 slate.
