Teen Girl Magazine Features Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has gained immense popularity since it first launched. It was one of the biggest anime sensations of 2019.
The recent Demon Slayer Movie: Mugen Train, which was released on October 16th, earned about US$100 million in its first 10 days at the box office.
With this increasing popularity, this anime is now seen everywhere, even at places where you least expect it to be present.
The teen girl magazine Seventeen featured Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in its November issue, giving fashion tips based on the popular Shonen manga’s aesthetics.
The issue even published a diet based on “Full Concentration Breathing,” which mainly includes suggestions for exercise routines.
Hiroshi Matsuyama, CyberConnect2 president, and CEO tweeted that the magazine’s playful and innovative usage of the Demon Slayer brand was beyond his imagination.
The female staff at the Fukuoka head office bought Seventeen, so I asked them to show me the contents, but I was surprised at the content that went far diagonally above my imagination. Did this happen? Will high school students read this someday?

Matsuyama points out some of the wordplay used in the magazine, including “Mugen Kokurare-Hen” which is a reference to the Infinity Train arc, “Kimetsu no Mote-JK: Sono Coordination de Hi-Mote wo Tachikire” (Kimetsu no Popular Schoolgirl: I’ll Take Down My Lack of Popularity with My Coordinating Outfit!), and “Mote-Hashira” (Popular Pillars).
The issue also covers an interview with the voice actors of Tanjiro and Nezuko, Natsuki Hanae and Akari Kitō. They were asked questions regarding how they spend their school days.
The Mugen Train movie set a new record in Japan and became the fastest film to earn 10 billion yen. About 7,983,442 tickets were sold in its first ten days at the box office.

About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016 with 19 collected tankōbon volumes released as of present.
In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, after— the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko’s life is spared only for her to live as a demon.
As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or, better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.
