Currently, a huge amount of anime is being greenlit very early. For example, take this series called ‘Hot’ from Shueisha. The manga has not even begun and yet, it has an anime announced!

However, we have yet to receive any info about Kanojo mo Kanojo Season 2. There has been no announcement about it and without that, getting the release date is next to impossible. But let us consider the options it has.
There are a huge amount of series that never get a sequel despite being popular; like Accel World. And then there are series that was hated upon but still got a sequel, like Record of Ragnarok Season 2.
If we don’t consider these types of anomalies, then there is a criteria to judge if we will get Kanojo mo Kanojo S2.
First, we check the popularity. Kanojo mo Kanojo is one of the most popular anime of Summer Season, 2021.
With more than 200,000 members, it is in the top 1000 popular anime of Myanimelist. And that is quite impressive. It even made it into Crunchyroll’s top 20 anime a couple of times.
The high popularity means that the series is receiving a lot of views, which means more revenue. Then the scores. On the same website, it has a rating of 6.7/10.
Given that this is a harem series, the rating is not particularly bad. It might seem low but it is actually okay because most people will look at it as a guilty pleasure.
Lastly, the source material. Season 1 covered up to volume 4 of the series. So Season 2 should need 4 more volumes. Fortunately, Volume 8 is coming within October 16, 2021. So if the anime comes in 2022, it will have enough material to adapt.
Hence, we can say that there is a decent chance of there being a Kanojo mo Kanojo Season 2.

We are hoping that Kanojo mo Kanojo Season 2 comes out within 2023. And for that, we expect Studio Tezuka Productions to remain. They did a fine job adapting this season.
We also expect Half HP Studio, NBC Universal, and Myrica Music to continue funding this project. Crunchyroll will probably license the series.
Kanojo mo Kanojo anime is based on the Shonen manga of the same name. It is created by Hiroyuki and is published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine.
We know that Kodansha has had hopes for the series since it came out in 2020 and already has 7 volumes and an anime!
The plot revolves around Naoya who has started to date his childhood crush Saki Saki. However, his classmate Nagisa ends up confessing her feelings.
Unable to hurt Nagisa’s feelings, Naoya decides to date both of them at the same time.
Both the girls move in with Naoya. And that begins a bustling life of a variety of crazy occurring, every day is a hilarious riot involving an awkward timing concept!
Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 will be a bit more serious. The plot will get deeper. The competition between Nagisa and Saki gets even tenser and Shino ends up living with the three of them!

- Taketatsu Ayana as Hoshizaki Rika. She plays Itsuka in Date a Live and Nino in Quintessential Quintuplets.
