Act-Age Mangaka Is Served A Suspended Sentence For Molestation
Tatsuya Matsuki, the creator of the Act-Age series was arrested on the grounds of sexual assault in August 2020.
Acts of molestation is a serious threat to society and the manga/anime community was shocked by this act from a mangaka.
The Act-Age manga was canceled by Weekly Shonen Jump very quickly after the incident. Victims of molestation can be traumatized for a long period and it is hard to heal from such a frightening experience.
Manga fans have also shown their full support towards the victim of the incident.
Tatsuya Matsuki was charged as guilty of molestation of a female middle school student by the Tokyo District Court. A sentence of one and a half years has been pronounced on him.
However, it is on a suspension of three years. Thus, if Matsuki remains on good behavior for the upcoming three years then he doesn’t have to serve the prison sentence.
The mangaka had committed two such indecent acts on 18th June 2020. He was indicted for the second offense. The middle schooler was touched indecently on her chest when she was on Nakano road.
Although the prosecutor demanded an 18 months prison sentence, the defense wanted a suspension period due to the mangaka having suffered already (manga cancellation).
VIZ Media to Remove Act-Age Existing Chapters & More
Shiro Usazaki, the illustrator of Act-Age, also posted a tweet in regards to the arrest of Tatsuya Matsuki. In the tweet, he showed support towards the victim and condemned what had happened.
All the existing chapters of Act-Age have already been removed from Viz Media and the upcoming live-action play has also been canceled.
