AnimeFest 2021 Goes Virtual Due to COVID Restrictions at Dallas
The current COVID-19 pandemic has affected the entertainment industry quite badly. Film releases were delayed, and live shows were canceled.
Anime conventions have also suffered a lot, including the recently canceled AnimeFest 2021!
The annual Dallas AnimeFest, which first took place in 1992, has been canceled for the second year in a row. However, fans should not be disappointed as the organizers have planned something else as well.
The Four-day AnimeFest, scheduled from July 30- August 2, 2021, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, has been canceled. However, a live virtual celebration will take place on July 30 via Twitch.
The event will be free of cost to attend, and fans can tune in to the official AnimeFest channel to watch the proceedings. The organizers have also promised to try to arrange a live physical event later this year.
This is not the first convention to get canceled this year. Earlier, the much-awaited Anime Expo and FanimeCon 2021 also suffered a similar fate.
Maryland’s Katsucon Cancels 2021 Event
The specialty of AnimeFest is that the event usually takes place for four days while most other similar conventions take place over three days. This is one of the primary reasons why this convention is so popular among anime fans.
Last year’s event was also canceled under similar circumstances. Fans had hoped this year’s event would be a brilliant show, but the current restrictions at host city Dallas prevented that.
Despite the disappointment of many fans, this is the best possible solution keeping in mind the current state of affairs. We hope that the organizers can arrange for the alternate event later this year without much difficulty.
Till then, fans must try to enjoy the online event taking place on July 30th on the Twitch live stream.
