Area no Kishi Illustrator Kaya Tsukiyama is Back with a Brand New Project!
Kaya Tsukiyama has been one of the most influential creators of the manga industry in recent years. As the illustrator for the popular soccer-based manga “The Knight in the Area” or “Area no Kishi,” he did a tremendous job bringing Hiroaki Igano’s work to life. This summer, Tsukiyama is back with another exciting project!
Due to his in-depth knowledge of sports, Tsukiyama was able to capture the imagination of the readers through his detailed and scientifically accurate illustrations. One of the significant reasons for Area no Kishi’s success was the realistic scenarios portrayed in the manga.
Kaya Tsukiyama will begin the serialization of a new manga in the Weekly Shonen Magazine starting this summer.
Tsukiyama has not revealed any extra information, but fans expect that he will provide further details pretty soon. Some even speculate that the upcoming manga could be related to sports.
Kaya Tsukiyama also announced on his official Twitter that he is looking for an assistant for his upcoming project.

Tsukiyama’s most recent project was the suspense-thriller manga “Kamisama no Koibito,” which reached its climax last year. Before that, the original Area no Kishi manga ended in 2017, after getting serialized for almost 11 years in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine.

The Knight in the Area is a manga by Hiroaki Igano and Kaya Tsukiyama. It is a soccer based manga that was serialized from 2006-2017.
Kakeru and Suguru Aizawa are brothers, both are interested in soccer. While Kakeru quits the game due to a traumatic esperience, Suguru proves himself to be a prodigy.
However, both of them get into an accident and only Kakeru is saved. Suguru’s heart was transplanted into him, thus Kakeru aims returns to the soccer world to achieve Suguru’s dreams.
