Assassin’s Creed Black Flag mysteriously removed and reinstated on Steam

At the beginning of August, there were rumors that Ubisoft had some developers dedicated to developing the remake of the fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

On September 7^th, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was quietly removed from the Steam Storefront. The title was also removed from the Assassin’s Creed bundle, which includes all the mainline entries to the Assassin’s Creed franchise by Ubisoft.

However, Black Flag was spotted on the Ubisoft Store. While the removal does not directly hint at the fact that a remake is in the works, fans are already theorizing why Ubisoft quietly removed the title.

A possible logical explanation is that the developers delisted the title while trying to resolve a significant technical issue that an update cannot resolve. It could also hint at the inclusion of certain new features, which is unlikely in this case, as Black Flag has been out for close to 10 years now.

Fans of the franchise have reason to believe that the removal might hint towards a remake. This is because Ubisoft had done something similar earlier by removing Assassin’s Creed 3 from Steam to replace it with a remaster from 2019.

Even more baffling is that the Black Flag was reintroduced to Steam just as quietly as it was removed. With the tenth anniversary of the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag coming up on October 29^th, there could be more development on this front as the date inches closer.

However, before that, Assassin’s Creed fans are being treated to the life of Basim in 9^th century Baghdad in the upcoming title Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

With reworked mechanics and significant improvements from the RPG style seen in the past three epic titles of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, Mirage promises to bring the franchise back to its roots.
