Blind Musician And a Dancer Join Forces in Masaaki Yuasa’s New Film INU-OH
Masaaki Yuasa is amongst the most recognizable names when it comes to anime directors. Now, his latest film INU-OH is ready to take on the world.
The veteran of the industry has his name attached to classics like DEVILMAN Crybaby, Crayon Shin-chan, and Mind Game.
Be it Japan Sinks or the seeming lack of detail style motion heavy of Ping Pongthe Animation, visuals are always interesting when it comes to Yuasa. His peculiarity is apparent even in the trailer of his new film.
The official website for Masaaki Yuasa’s INU-OH movie has released a new trailer. The upcoming musical anime film is expected to be released in Summer 2022.
The trailer begins with INU-OH, a being with unique physical characteristics running around the city while Tomona, a blind Biwa player is quietly walking in the forest in contrast. The scene then cuts to them working together, Tomona plays the music while INU-OH dances.

This will be the first animated Japanese film that will compete in the Venice International Film Festival’s Horizons category. The 78th iteration of the festival will take place from September 1-11, 2021.
Fall Anime Movie, The Deer King’s, Trailer Weaves a Tale of Interconnected Suffering
The film is based on the real-life friendship between Noh performer, Inou, and blind biwa player, Tomoyo, from the Muromachi period. The story is expected to contain a lot of musical themes from the era.

About Inu-Oh
INU-OH is a musical anime feature film of Hideo Furukawa’s Heike Monogatari: INU-OH no Maki (Tales of the Heike: INU-OH) novel. The film will make its world premiere and compete in the Horizons (Orizzonti) category at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.
Inu-Oh is born with unique physical characteristics, and the horrified adults cover every inch of his body with garments, including a mask on his face. One day, he meets a boy named Tomona, a blind biwa player, and as Tomona plays a delicate song of tangled fate, Inu-Oh discovers an incredible ability to dance.
Inu-Oh and Tomona become business partners and through the songs, Inu-Oh mesmerizes his audiences on stage, and gradually begins to transform into someone of unequaled beauty. But why is Tomona blind? Why was Inu-Oh born with unique characteristics?
