In the 12th episode of Blue Period, Yatora finished his final painting in the second examination. He had used turpentine to bring out the nakedness of the human skin. On the third day of the examination, the students began working on the sketchbook. During the exam, he got a comment from Yotasuke stating that he had improved a lot since the last time they met. As the exam ended, Mrs. Saeki assured Yatora that he would pass the exam with flying colors.
Later on, it was announced that the graduation ceremony would be on the same day as the exam results. Thus, Yatora decided that he was not going to join the ceremony. As the decisive day arrived, Yatora was rejoiced to find out that he had passed the exam. While his friend Kuwana did not make it through, he knew that they would all pass the course eventually. Towards the end of the season, Yatora received his degree and thanked Mrs. Ooba for all her guidance and support.
