Boruto Chapter 55: Naruto Loses Kurama And Sasuke Loses His Rinnegan!
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 55 is out, and I just cannot believe what has happened. Naruto just lost his oldest family, Kurama! It is not only Naruto who has lost something precious as we lament Sasuke’s Rinnegan.
In chapter 54, Naruto was exhausted after using the Baryon mode, and many of us feared for his life. However, Kurama has managed to deceive both Naruto and the readers. More bad news awaits as a new Otsutsuki threat has just emerged.
1. Kurama’s Lie and Sacrifice
As the chapter starts, Naruto thinks he is dead, but Kurama consoles him by saying that he is still alive, just unconscious.
In their last conversation, Kurama confesses that the reason they could pull off the Baryon mode was due to their strong connection.
“The price of Baryon mode is my life, not yours…”
Kurama, The Nine Tails Beast
Kurama knew that Naruto would have never agreed to the plan if he had told the truth before.
The last conversation with Kurama reminds Naruto of his parents whose love he had never experienced. As Kurama departs, Naruto begs him not to go, but to no avail.
Typically, when a tailed beast is extracted, the host dies, but Naruto will not die as the Baryon mode has exhausted only Kurama’s chakra between the two.

2. Sasuke Lost His Rinnegan!?
Momoshiki had taken over Boruto and stabbed Sasuke in his left eye. Our fears of Sasuke losing his Rinnegan have actually turned true.
In chapter 55, Naruto requests the others to open a space-time portal to return home. As Boruto glances over at Sasuke, he confesses that his Rinnegan is now useless.
Sasuke tries to lift the heavy atmosphere by saying that they all went into the fight with the resolution to die.
“It’s only lucky that we are alive.”

3. A New Otsutsuki is Born!
The scene shifts to Code, who wakes up from a nap and says that unlike Kawaki, he is a failed vessel.
However, Isshiki appears out of the blue and instructs Code that after Isshiki’s death, he will inherit the powers of an Otsutsuki. His mission is to feed Kawaki and Boruto to the Ten-Tails and grow the Divine Tree.
It seems like Isshiki’s karma had enabled him to appear in front of Code for one last time. This reflects how Kurama also had one last talk with Naruto.
However, while Kurama advises Naruto to have faith in his companions and be careful afterwards, Isshiki eggs Code on to a path of doom and destruction.
With Kurama and Sasuke’s Rinnegan out of the way, Code’s mission becomes even easier. Isshiki has used Code’s attachment to him to fulfil his own desire even as he dies.
If Code unleashes Ten Tails, thousands will be killed. His abilities have not been fully revealed yet, and fans believe that he is hiding some major powers.
Will this chapter mark the end of Naruto and Sasuke’s role as untold heroes in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations?
