Do you ever pick up a delicious-looking, bright-colored candy and delightedly stuff it into your mouth only to find that it’s sugar-free? It has that distinct, slightly bitter aftertaste of fake sweeteners. It looks pretty and tasty. It fills you up and takes away the worst of the sugar craving – but all the joy is gone from it. In a way, that’s also how it is with Metallic Rouge.
Welcome back to Anime Rants with Mono (7Mononoke). The Apothecary Diaries Episode 42 – AKA season 2 episode 18 – was excellent. It contained some important character moments for Jinshi especially. With Maomao missing for ten days, he was extremely agitated and prone to losing his composure. It was intense when he intimidated the fake Loulan with physical force. I appreciated this episode because even though it was hard to watch in a way, it made me appreciate Jinshi’s struggles more. Let’s review the rest of the episode.
