Ch 228 of ‘Dr. Stone’ Divulges Why-man’s Jaw-Dropping Identity

The mystery of Why-man has finally been solved. Chapter 228 of Dr. Stone put forth a wild plot twist, and I don’t think any of us were ready for it.

When Senku had recognized Why-man in a previous chapter, I thought it might be someone from the science crew, but the revelation in the latest chapter just blew my mind.

So, who exactly is Why-man, and why did Senku say the entity has been with them all along? It turns out, Why-man is the Medusa.

Medusas are the machine life-forms that form Why-man. In other terms, there wasn’t any different entity, and it was the petrification devices that posed a threat.

All this while, the alien theory was paid the least heed, and now the mangaka hits us with this. Or is it possible that the Medusas are man-made?

The devices can understand human language and reply, but the first words they directly utter are “Do you wanna die?” Talk about civil conduct.

Senku and Gen quickly figure out that the best way to not get petrified on the spot is to establish a friendly relationship with them.

It isn’t easy to be friendly with someone who wants to turn you into stone at every chance they get, but our protagonists try their best.

Senku and Gen realize that the best way to establish peace is by offering a gift. The only problem is that no one thought of carrying gifts into space for an enemy they wanted to defeat.

Our genius scientist calculates that life and death must be crazy important to this species, so he offers to replenish their life sources through diamond batteries.

The Medusas are actually parasitic lifeforms that offer the advantages of petrification to intelligent life forms.

Yet, I am still curious about how the Medusas were created. Are they a different species altogether, or were they created by someone from Earth and then abandoned on the Moon?

I am glad that the petrification devices are trying to preserve humankind by turning everyone into stone, but someone please explain to them that life needs to be lived. Is Senku’s next task to teach philosophy to machines?

Chapter 229 will be another wild ride for us, as we are yet to know whether Why-man will accept Senku’s offer.
