Ch 229 of Dr. Stone Finally Explains What “Why Why Why…” Means

If you have been wondering about the real meaning behind the continuous “why why why…” scream from the Moon, you aren’t alone. Chapter 229 of Dr. Stone has finally given us an answer to this mystery.

Fans have already come up with their own hyper-realistic theories about it, but it turns out, the mangaka was trolling us all this while.

No, the “why” scream wasn’t an encoded message. It was just Medusa’s cry of frustration. Basically, it can be translated to “How can you humans be dumb enough not to want eternal life?”

It has already been established that petrification devices are a parasitic life form. They bribe intelligent species with eternal life (read ‘stone life’) in exchange for the perpetual benefit.

Gradually the Medusa realized that humans couldn’t even replace their batteries, much less cultivate them. Even I would be pretty frustrated if I were dealing with such dumb folks for centuries.

Humans radiated ample electromagnetic waves (thanks to Senku), meaning they are an intelligent species and still didn’t crave eternal life.

The whole logic seemed too weird for Why-man to accept. So what did it do? Scream out of irritation and disappointment. (I relate)

Now that humanity is ready to negotiate with this lifeform, I hope Why-man’s mental state improves a little. Yet, what I fear the most is that it might not be prone to negotiation.

For an uncountable period of time, Why-man has parasitized different species with no setbacks. Will it understand that humans don’t like being stones?

I am glad that we finally got the Why-man’s point of view on this matter, and now it is finally time for the negotiations to begin.
