What happened in the last chapter?
Makima reminds Chainsaw Man of the countless names he has eaten up – thus her squad has no name anymore. They’re just ready to exterminate the walking hell in front of them. The Public Safe Fifth Division takes out their weapons and jumps the Chainsaw Man.
But lo and behold. The Devil is not even fazed. In the blink of an eye, Chainsaw Man destroys them all. And in the process, he dilapidates the building. Katana Man shows up last, ready for Round 2. But he is out of luck. In front of the Chainsaw, he stands no chance. Seeing Katana get beheaded, Makima admits that her chances of winning are slim.

Chainsaw Man Manga 88 Discussion and theories:
We would like to start with a crazy theory – we’re reading a crazy manga so it’s not wrong. Makima said that whoever kills the Chainsaw Man, gets to go out on a date with her. Isn’t that a great opportunity for Denji? What if, in Chainsaw Man Chapter 88, Denji is the one to somehow defeat the devil from inside? Won’t that be a shocking twist?
We got another small backup for this. Pochita is trying to bring Denji back; Denji wanted to have burgers and go on a date. He got to do just that. Denji isn’t back yet but maybe he will. Makima was trying to nullify it by treating Denji into a dog!
Just a theory. Moving on we have the various occurrences in the latest chapter. We saw that Makima was able to manipulate and bring out the best of the best to fight Chainsaw Man. Question is, were these the only ones? Will there be more to come in Chainsaw Man Manga 88? It’s definitely possible.
We haven’t seen the like but are we getting a small flashback? Before the final battle, maybe we can see the shared history between Makima and Chainsaw Man. Maybe that will give us a better look into both of them as characters and hint Makima’s final plans.
Chainsaw Man 88 will probably give us a moment of quietness between Makima and Chainsaw Man. The two can have a conversation. Although knowing the unpredictability of our protagonist, we are forced to wonder if it will have more bloodshed or not. We believe more destruction is guaranteed.
Wait a second! Katana Man came back so quickly. That means he wasn’t chopped off in the first clash. Katana Man is not damaged at all. The one next to him was unharmed too. Maybe that’s why Makima still wears a smile. Chainsaw Man 88 can give us a similar bloody experience as Chapter 87.
