Chainsaw Man Manga Recommended for Readers by the 15th ACBD French Awards!
Mangas have graduated from being pretty comics to cultural assets a long time ago. Various awards are awarded to selected mangas around the world. One such manga, Chainsaw Man has attracted the attention of otakus worldwide.
We all know about the Kodansha Manga awards or the Osamu Tezuka Prize, but this time, Chainsaw Man has invaded the list of best Asian comics adapted in French!
The 15th Association of Comic Strip Critics and Journalists (ACBD) awards have just been announced. The award recognizes those comics that are of an Asian origin but have generated interest after their adaptation in French.
The award is generally presented at the Japan Expo festival. However, due to the cancellation of this year’s event, the nominees have been announced online.
The five finalist titles of this year are:
- The wait, by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim
- The Shaken Child, de Tang Xiao
- Olympia Kyklos, by Mari Yamazaki
- For the worst, by Taro Nogizaka
- Tomino the cursed, by Suehiro Maruo

- The Apothecary’s Notebooks, by Natsu Hyuuga, Nekokurage and Itsuki Nana

The award winner among the finalists will be announced on 2nd July.
Stopover in Yokohama and Chainsaw Man are some of my personal favorites on this list. From Korean manhwa to Japanese manga and Chinese manhua, the list chooses the best comics that Asia has to offer.

About Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that was serialized from December 2018-2022. The series is supposed to receive an anime series by MAPPA. A second part of the manga has also been announced
The manga’s plot revolves around Denji, an orphaned boy who has to work as a devil hunter to make a living and pay off his father’s debt.
However, his pet devil, Pochita is killed on a mission. Denji wakes up to realize he and Pochita have become a single being, Chainsaw Man. If he does not want to get killed, he has to join the government and continue hunting demons.
