Chapter 1055 of One Piece Reaffirms Shanks’ Beastly Powers and Haki

After being the rarest character to appear in the manga, Shanks resurfaces again in chapter 1055 of One Piece. Eiichiro Oda was not kidding when he said that he would not hold back with the new chapters of the series.

Shanks makes a thunderous entrance (quite literally) and, within a single page, proves that he is still one of the most powerful characters in One Piece.

In chapter 1055, we are reminded of Shanks’ mastery of all three types of Haki and that his mere presence has the potential to kill those around him.

Shanks’ black lightning paralyzes Ryokugyu with pain as he realizes that the Red Hair Pirates are nearby. Meanwhile, Shank’s followers plead with him to cease his powers before the newbies are harmed.

These few panels are enough to exhibit Shanks’ powers. He can take down Ryokugyu without even setting a foot down from his ship. The Admiral is scared enough to back down soon after getting hit by Haki.

On the other hand, Luffy can recognize Shanks’ haki despite not having seen him in a long time.  The next chapter carried the hope of a Shanks-Luffy reunion, and I don’t think fans could be more impressed by any other event.

Will Shanks join hands with Luffy? As unlikely as it is, fans are looking forward to the next chapter to see the Red Hair Pirate’s true motive behind arriving in Wano.

About One Piece

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997.

The man who had acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, is Gol D. Roger. The final words he said at the execution tower were “My treasures? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Look for it; I left all of it at that place.” These words sent many to the seas, chasing their dreams, headed toward the Grand Line, in search of One Piece. Thus began a new age!

Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy also heads toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece. His diverse crew is joining him along the way, consisting of a swordsman, marksman, navigator, cook, doctor, archaeologist, and cyborg-shipwright, this will be one memorable adventure.
