The anime community isn’t a stranger to controversies. It gladly accepts controversies as they arrive. This time though, it’s about a hentai plug-in!
However, this time, it’s the music production community that is witnessing the controversy due to something remotely related to anime. The culprit causing the controversy is anime’s hidden and yet prevalent cousin, Hentai.
The controversy is regarding an anime-themed Hentai plug-in that is polarising the anime production community. Developed by WX Audio company, this hentai plug-in is called NANI!
This term is unique and interesting because it’s a sexual twist on the popular statement in Hentai. This word does evoke laughter in many if used in the right context.
WX Audio company is an LA-based company, which has been very bold in calling it the first obscene hentai plug-in. Now, that takes a lot of guts.
So, let’s take a closer look at how this plug-in functions to understand why it’s brought a lot of outrage against it!
What is Nani, popularly known as Hentai Girl Plug-in?
Nani is a six-mode distortion plug-in with a variety of color and drive controls that the user can use to do many things. However, it’s the drive control that has been the source of all controversy.
Turning up the drive control makes a female anime character slowly become nuder till her breasts get exposed. Understandably so, this hentai girl plug-in has ignited a lot of debates within the music production community, with many taking varied stances.
We have seen two opposing strands of reactions to this controversial hentai plug-in from the multiple voices that have emerged. Let’s get into the debate and try to comprehend both sides.
Against the Anime Hentai Plug-in
Youtube Influencers like White Sea Studio and San Worrall have spoken out against the plug-in, calling it sexist. The founder of White Sea Studio, Wytse Gerichhausen narrated how many female engineers have felt unwelcome and threatened in a male-dominated space.
He called this case both the epitome and proof of female engineers getting less respect in the music industry. Meanwhile, Dan Worrall spoke along the same lines and called it disgusting. He questioned, rightly so, if there should even be breasts in a plug-in.
Interestingly, in their videos, they asked rhetorically if a toxic culture of sexism is the main reason behind the appallingly low female viewership in their channels. They cited a survey called the Musician’s Union 2019 Survey which revealed damning statistics about sexual harassment in the music industry.
For The Anime Hentai Plug-in
However, there have been some softer opinions towards the plug-in. Popular YouTubers like QB!K, Gunsoww, and sai. They commended the plug-in for its impressive audio quality and called it “cool and cheap”.
Gunsoww even went to the point of claiming that one needs to “see boobs” while working.
