Demon Slayer Mugen Train, A Whisker Away And More Submitted For Oscars
The Academy Awards are the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry.
It is more commonly known by the trophy’s nickname, the “Oscar”. And of course, anime movies are also included in its nominations.
Every year several anime movies are submitted for the Academy Awards. However, barely any of them get nominated. The last anime film to receive the Oscar was Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away in 2003.
A fresh batch of anime movies will be submitted for the Animated Feature Film category at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards. The anime films that have been submitted from Japan are:
- Demon Slayer-Kimetsu no Yaiba-The Movie: Mugen Train by Koyoharu Gotouge
- Earwig and the Witch by Goro Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli
- Lupin III THE FIRST by Monkey Punch
- ON-GAKU: Our Sound by Kenji Iwaisawa
- Ride Your Wave by Masaaki Yuasa
- A Whisker Away by Junichi Sato, Tomotaka Shibayama
Out of the 27 films that have been submitted, only five will be nominated. This year we have Mugen Train, which has high chances of getting nominated. It had also overtaken Spirited Away as the highest-earning film in Japan.
The final nominees will be announced on 15th March, and the 93rd annual Academy Awards will be held on 25th April.
