As we’ve all seen, Demon Slayer’s Season 2 trailer largely features Tengen Uzui, the sound pillar. So it’s confirmed for real that Tengen will be the next Hashira after Kyojuro Rengoku to enter the spotlight. Up until now, we’ve witnessed two instances when he appears, once in Season 1 and the second time in the Mugen Train movie.
Fans are super excited about the role Sound Hashira’s character will play in the upcoming arc. Will he become a fan favourite just like the Flame Hashira? Read on to find out what we think about Tengen so far from Season 1 and what we can possibly expect from him in Season 2.
What We Know About the Sound Hashira So Far
From what we’ve seen of him so far, he seems like an eccentric, forceful and flashy guy, always going on about being ‘flamboyant. And as a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, he’s undoubtedly a very powerful member. He is extremely skilled in swordsmanship and is the most excellent one in that area among the other Hashiras.
He uses Sound breathing, which is a derivative form of Zenitsu’s Thunder breathing. Not much of his abilities have been shown in the anime and movie as yet, so it will be very interesting to see how his sound breathing technique is depicted in the anime as compared to the manga.
While Rengoku’s Flame breathing was visually breathtaking in its sheer vibrancy, it is likely that Tengen’s stunning breathing technique will wow us in a different way- through compelling audio since his has to do with sound.

We also saw that when the Pillars are first introduced to us in Season 1, everyone seems bizarre but Tengen is the most unusual and eccentric of the group. He seems fixated on anything flashy and flamboyant. How will his character be further developed in the upcoming arc?
What to Expect From Demon Slayer Season 2 Sound Hashira
Given his strange tendencies, it is for sure that he will not have the same superior and subordinate relationship with Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu like they’d shared with Rengoku. He doesn’t have the same unshakeable integrity and inspiring noble character like Rengoku, so it’ll be interesting to see how his dynamic with Tanjiro and gang plays out.
Also, since he was one of the members so strongly opposed to allowing Tanjiro and Nezuko to live when Nezuko is revealed to be a demon, speculations are running high on whether his opinion will change in Season 2.
It is likely he will not hold the same opinion anymore regarding Tanjiro and Nezuko’s unique case as he gradually warms up to Tanjiro after learning that he met Muzan Kibutsuji and gave a headbutt to the Wind Hashira, Sanemi. He’ll probably try to be more civil owing to his budding respect for Tanjiro.
We also know from the Mugen Train movie that the Hashira are not undefeatable, and that Muzan’s Upper Rank demons are highly formidable opponents who are beginning to make more appearances one by one.

Also, when news of the Flame Hashira’s death arrive, Tengen is surprised that even Rengoku was unable to defeat an Upper Rank. This perhaps indicates that Tengen is not as powerful as Rengoku.
Tengen will probably encounter another demon attack along with Tanjiro and the gang. The demon that Tengen may spend a good deal sparring with is probably the one lurking around in the recent trailer video. We can’t wait to watch and see how the Sound Hashira fares in Season 2!
