Even though Chrome has come a long way as a scientist, he always seems to be a step behind Senku. Dr. Stone’s chapter 218 subtly shows his incredible growth as a scientist.

To create the internet, Senku decides to search for Tochu tea. Although it has a lot of health properties as a drink, it confuses everyone as to why that would help them make the internet.
As it turns out, Tochu plant’s leaves contain Eucommia Elastomer, a rubber-like natural polymer that is waterproof and conducts electricity.
Chrome immediately thinks ahead and figures out that they intend to lay down cables in the ocean to connect the whole world, thus creating the internet. Usually, it would take some more explanation from Senku for Chrome to figure out what he is thinking, but not this time.
It is hard to believe that he started out as a sorcerer from the bronze age and is now able to figure out Senku’s grand plans ahead of time.
Although he has previously unknowingly created inventions from the past like the water wheel and the metal detector, his latest idea about the two-way rocket really shows off his comprehension of unknown science.

While it isn’t anything new, it manages to catch Xeno and Senku’s attention. Without his intervention, the whole kingdom would have been forced to accept the one-way rocket.
It is only a matter of time until Chrome starts to figure out Senku’s ideas before he even explains them. Maybe he will even come up with something that no one has ever thought of before.
