Greetings, readers. The 11th episode of Dr. Stone: Science Future was riveting. The main event was the “dogfight” between the planes piloted by Ryusui and Stanley. I recently watched Porco Rosso for the first time, so my appreciation for aerial battles has increased. Now, without further ado, I’ll very quickly recap what happened.
Episode 11: Those Who Know the Rules; Those Who Make Them
Episode Rating: 8/10
With Senku in tow, Ryusui piloted the new mini-plane and took to the air. The dogfight with Stanley and his plane began. During the course of their battle, both opponents used several strategies and air maneuvers, each trying to lock on to the engine of the other to shoot it. The insert song that played for part of the dogfight was a banger, reminding me of a classic rock song from the 80s.

Eventually, Ryusui and Senku won by throwing makeshift “bombs” of a certain chemical that causes engines to break down. Senku was still weak and clumsy with his wound, so he accidentally got the chemical in Ryusui’s engine, too. Both planes went down, but Senku and Ryusui were back on their feet immediately, hurrying to the site where Stanley crashed to capture him and his equipment.

Meanwhile, Xeno’s side made their move. Their secret weapon was, as I predicted, a submarine. It crashed into the Perseus, destroying part of the ship. A bunch of tough American men got on board and started fighting the younger group. Moz and Matsukaze were the only two who stood up to the threat of guns in their faces. Matsukaze used his bamboo sword and Moz used a kudayari, which he learned from Hyouga. They fought bravely, defending everyone.

Ryusui and Senku approached the crashed plane, only to find that Stanley wasn’t there. The plane had been operated by a female body double, who now had the young men at gunpoint. The real Stanley appeared on board the Perseus and immediately defeated Moz and Matsukaze, shooting them non-fatally. It was check-mate, and it seemed that Senku’s team had failed. However, Senku knew the checkmate went both ways.

In his futuristic white castle, Dr. Xeno was suddenly ambushed by Tsukasa and Kohaku, who got there via the tunnel they had been digging for two weeks. Xeno was about to be completely overwhelmed. That’s why the checkmate went both ways. To be continued.

~Thanks for reading~
