A new figure highlights that Evangelion is and will always be the franchise with which Hideaki Anno will always be remembered, since the last film in the Rebuild of Evangelion saga is now known as the most successful film by the Japanese director.
At the end of Golden Week it was reported that Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time reached a cumulative earning of 8.28 billion yen (over $ 75.72 million) around the world.
The numbers that Evangelion : 3.0 + 1.0left the film at the box office were compared to Shin Godzilla, Hideaki Anno’s previous production in 2016 and which grossed 8.25 billion yen (more than 75.40 million dollars). With the above, Thrice Upon a Time was designated as the director’s most successful film
Thrice Upon a Time has been in theaters for eight weeks since its premiere on March 6 in Japan. It should be noted that the film has been released in very few countries other than Japan. And, at the moment there are no signs indicating its premiere in the West.
