About The Promised Neverland:

The Promised Neverland is a work of CloverWorks anime. It is an adaptation of the manga of the same name. The anime was first aired from January to March 2019. The first season of The Promised Neverland included 12 episodes and covered the first story arc, equivalent to manga chapter 1 to 37. Season 2 of The Promised Neverland was announced to release in October 2020 but is delayed due to the effects of Covid-19. The pandemic has severely affected production. The new season is now expected to be coming in January 2021.

Plot of The Promised Neverland:

The beginning of the story takes place in an orphanage at Grace Field House. The orphanage looks like a paradise with plenty of food, plush beds, clean clothes, games, and their lovely ‘Mom’, the caretaker, Isabella. When three gifted kids learn the truth about their isolated orphanage, they try to escape with other sibling orphans with a risky plan.

Characters in Season 2:

The three main characters of the first season are cheerful and optimistic. The three characters were Emma, Norman, and Ray. Norman is portrayed as a genius of strategic games and Ray as a smart boy who is trying to get information about the outside world. Ray is later revealed to be a child of the caretaker Isabella. They accidentally find out about the demons who are buying and butchering children when one of the orphans is sent to be adopted.

Spoilers for Season 2 of The Promised Neverland:

The Emma, Norman and Ray, decide to break out of Grace Field House. Norman, as the most intelligent out of the three, is the first to find out Ray is spying for Isabella. After Norman prepared various back-up plans and escape routes, he accepted his unavoidable fate of death which was forced to be adopted before his 12th birthday to deceive caretakers ‘Moms’.

But according to the manga, Norman instead of being butchered, he is sent to a particular research facility. After escaping from the facility, Norman leads the children who are being treated as test subjects from the lab. He establishes a hideout for the children he rescued from the facilities.

Then he prepared a plan to wipe out all demons in that world. While, the children who escaped from the orphanage, led by Emma, Ray, Don and Gilda are following the hidden clue. The clue is direction to a safe house in a book and pen of William Minerva, a mystery ally. They have been trying ever since they escaped Grace Field House. They run into a near-death experience with demons, but they get help from some weird partners.

When they reach the safe house, there is already a man with some unknown history. He too wanted to meet with William Minerva. They struggled with that stranger, and finally discover the way to exit from devils, the Goldy Pond. But things did not go according to exception, Emma and Ray who went to scout the Goldy Pond get into trouble with devils. But Emma met with some children and their leader, a man who is helping children to fight back devils.

Goldy Pond:

After some struggle, the children escape the Goldy Pond and the group lead by Emma, Ray, Don and Gilda are all meet Norman, who is known as God, the leader of the children hideout. Norman explained the plan to wipe out devils but Emma as a kind girl, she wants to solve the issue with peace and without killing. Ray supports Emma with her stands. They want to do things their way. This leads to conflict.

Unanswered Questions

There are many unanswered questions that still exist and will be answered in season two of The Promised Neverland. How Emma and Norman decide on the way to deal with the devils?. Will, they discovered anything to change their ideologies?. Will every child escape from the devils unharmed?.

People who watched the first season of the Promised Neverland anime still have plenty of unanswered questions. If you don’t want to wait until January 2021, your best is to pick up the manga. There are a total of 13 volumes in the manga, and you should start to read in chapter 38. Season 2 of The Promised Neverland will pick up the story from chapter 38 of the manga.
