In the last episode, we saw that the first exam was over, and a total of six parties meaning eighteen participants passed the exam. The second exam was about to begin in a few days and Fern and Frieren were back in town and met with Stark. Looked like Stark was enjoying his free days but Fern did not like it all and was scolding both Stark and Frieren for sleeping till the evening.
Frieren then decided to take both of them to a place she knew from the time of Himmel the Hero and thought that it might lighten up Fern’s mood. Richter works in a shop and Denken and Laughen ask him for dinner together and they also go for it. Ubel and the boy from their party also met up and the boy asked about why she let Wirbel live when she had the chance to kill him off during the first exam.
She said that she liked his explanation and she also takes time before killing a human to keep her sane. It was then revealed that if she emphasizes with someone she can copy their technique and then use Wirbel’s binding technique. She then asked the boy his story but the boy refused. Frieren Beyond Journey’s End Episode 22 Recap
The previous episode of Frieren Beyond Journey’s End was pretty light-hearted as most of the time characters were just enjoying their dinner. Denken took Laughen and Richter to the same place where Frieren took Fern and Stark for their dinner. Frieren remembered the time when she was in the restaurant with her old party. She remembered the chef saying that he was best at what he did and he planned to keep the taste the same even after 100 or 200 years.
Frieren then tasted the food and said it sure changed but the change was for the better as the quality and taste of the food improved from the last time she was there. Wirbel was looking for a warrior for something all around the town but he could not find someone. Lawine and Kanne were also out and Lawine’s brothers brought some gifts for her.
Fern was again angry at them both as they had to go grocery shopping. While shopping they met Lawine and Kanne and they offered some sweets to Frieren for the help she provided during the first exam. After that, the date and location for the second exam arrived and it was revealed that the exam instructor would be Sense. Sense had taken four exams till now and not a single person passed the test. It would be interesting to watch what comes next in the upcoming episode.
