‘Tomo-chan is a Girl!’ Full-Length Trailer Confirms Debut in January

Tomo-chan is a girl, but her tomboyish nature and occasionally intimidating attitude make people forget. Although it never troubled Tomo, it became an issue when she developed love for childhood friend Jun, who regards her as “one of the lads.”

The manga ended almost three years ago but is still popular among rom-com fans, so an anime adaptation of this funny romance is sure to get people talking.

The ‘Tomo-chan Is a Girl!’ anime will premiere on January 4, 2023, according to a hilarious full-length teaser video. The show will likewise have 13 episodes, according to the staff.

Aside from that, the trailer teases the anime’s final theme tune, ‘yurukuru*love.’ It will be performed by Rie Takahashi, Rina Hidaka, and Sally Amaki as Tomo, Misuzu, and Carol, respectively.

It starts with Tomo-chan telling us about how she confessed to Jun in high school and how it was really romantic. Jun, being a muscle-head who forgets Tomo-chan is a girl, interprets her declaration of love as platonic and refers to her as ‘bro.’

While Tomo’s sentiments continue to build, Jun’s behavior around her makes matters worse. Jun has no idea of personal space with Tomo because he considers her a friend, causing the latter to become agitated whenever he approaches too close to her.

Tomo, who is failing in love and has no idea how to make Jun perceive her as a girl, seeks advice from her best friends Misuzu and Carol. These two eccentric and sometimes extreme people vow to help their friend in their own eccentric and sometimes extreme ways.

Furthermore, in the anime’s new main visual, Tomo and Jun make a heart out of a fist bump while Misuzu, Carol, and others cheer them on in the background.

The best part about this narrative is that Tomo never changes her tomboyish demeanor in order to make Jun fall in love with her. Tomo wants Jun to love her for who she is rather than who she is not, making the plot more wholesome and relatable.

Despite being aggressive, sporty, and harsh, Tomo-chan is exceedingly sweet, naive, and soft to the point of being self-destructive. Things like this have helped to popularize the story, and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
