Funimation Delays My Hero Academia Episode 103 Dub due to Compromised VA
Not everything can go as it was intended to. My Hero Academia dub has been going on without a hitch till now, but this time, Funimation has some bad news for the fans.
There are very few anime that have simultaneous dubs. Most of them receive a dub after a whole season, but more popular ones get it at the same time as the original release, such as My Hero Academia.
Funimation had previously delayed all simuldubs by a week in order to let their staff work from their homes. While not ideal, things had been going well, but not for My Hero Academia.
Funimation has announced that My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 15’s English dub will be delayed by a week and available on 24th July 2021 instead.
The original telecast for the same episode was also delayed, but that was due to Nippon TV telecasting a special program.
Although Funimation hasn’t revealed the official reason for the delay, the fans seem to have figured it out.
Jason Liebrecht, the English voice actor for Dabi, had previously contracted COVID. Given that the delay is only a week, he seems to be in good shape now.
Jason is known for his roles such as Zeke Jaeger from Attack on Titan and Rob Lucci from One Piece. Dabi is one of the major players in the upcoming arc in the anime, including the delayed episode. It is easy to see why his role is important right now.
Hiro Shimono Voice of Zenitsu from Demon Slayer Tests Positive for Covid-19
While there is no dub this week, the original telecast is set to continue without a hitch with the anime original episode about Tsuyu and Ochaco’s internship.
Things were already hard for the dub watchers when it was delayed by a week. Now they have to work extra hard to avoid spoilers from two weeks prior, so why not just bite the bullet and watch the superior version instead?
