Get Mesmerized by Ballet in Dance Dance Danseur Anime’s New Teaser

After giving us the brilliant ice-skating anime Yuri!!! On Ice, MAPPA is back with another enchanting anime to break toxic gender norms. This time, the production studio will take us to the world of ballet with Dance Dance Danseur.

While ballet is generally performed by women, men are ridiculed for taking up such ‘feminine’ hobbies.

The anime’s protagonist Junpei is a victim of such treatment that led him to leave his passion for ballet and put on a traditionally masculine front after his father’s death.

But this didn’t mean that his love for the art form died too.

To be as close to ballet as possible, Junpei started learning a martial arts form called Jeet Kune Do, where he often put a little ballet twist to his moves, making them look even more alluring.

Dance Dance Danseur has revealed a new teaser for its upcoming anime adaptation scheduled to premiere in April 2022.

The teaser shows us two of the most signifying moments in Junpei’s life: the one where he first became mesmerized by ballet and the one where his love and passion for the art is reignited.

After seeing Mori Ryu perform in a studio under the moonlight, Junpei realizes why he started doing ballet and how it made him feel. He then encounters Miyako Godai, a transfer student whose mother owns a ballet studio.

Miyako realizes Junpei’s love for the art and his potential and invites him to her mother’s studio. She assures Junpei that all he needs is his ambition towards ballet and not other people’s opinion of how he should be.

Further, the teaser was accompanied by a key visual featuring Junpei and Mori in graceful ballet stances.

The franchise also revealed that Junpei would be voiced by Daiki Yamashita, who also plays Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia. More cast members will be announced soon.

Junpei is a boy who loves learning piano and wants to learn ballet. However, his father passed away at an early age and due to prejudices towards dancing, he turned away from it and learned martial arts.

Some years have passed and a new transfer student joins his class. She realizes that Junpei is interested in ballet and invites him to practice together.
