Get Ready for Another Exotic Journey with New Short of Mushishi in March!
Mushishi is a manga that can make you forget about the passage of time while reading it. An ethereal adventure with our protagonist, Ginko, directing us amidst a mysterious and ancient lifeform called ‘mushi.’
The manga’s chapters do not have any links to each other except Ginko and one or the other type of mushi. These beings have evolved into hundreds of forms, and only a select few can perceive them. Ginkgo travels from one place to another, aiding people who are suffering because of the mushi.
Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine has revealed that the Mushishi manga by Yuki Urushibara will be getting a new special short on 25th May 2021. The chapter is titled “The Shadow that Soars Through Land.”
The Mushishi manga had officially ended serialization in the Afternoon magazine in 2008. It ran for almost nine years before ending. It received a two-chapter special for the manga in 2013.
The manga has also been adapted into an anime with 26 episodes. It premiered in 2005. Its second season ran for 20 episodes in 2014. Two specials were released in 2014, and a film adaptation premiered in May 2015. Its 10th and last volume was released in 2010.
The new chapter, “The Shadow that Soars Through Land,” might introduce a new type of mushi to us. With all his knowledge about the mushi, Ginko will yet again solve the problems caused by them.

Mushishi has introduced these creatures in various forms. Mushi are unlike plants, animals, or humans. They do not exist to harm or profit another species.
Over time, we have been introduced to mushi that can cause fire, famine, rain, blindness or even some curious little alterations in daily life. Ginko has taken care of them all. What new mushi will we get to see this time, and how will Ginko deal with it?
About Mushishi
Mushishi by Yuki Urushibara is a manga series that Kodansha serialized in its Afternoon magazine. It ran from 1999 to 2008 and has been adapted into two anime seasons by studio Artland.
Set between the Edo and the Meiji period in Japan, the manga testifies to the existence of an ancient life-form named Mushi. These creatures display various supernatural abilities and cannot be perceived by humans.
Ginko is a mushishi or a master of mushi and researches about them. He travels around the country to cure the people who are suffering because of the mysterious creatures.
