Gintama’s Final Movie to be Brought to North American Cinemas in November!

Any visual of Gintama portrays it like your typical shonen anime, but with its witty dialogue and silly antics, the comic element surpasses the intense battles for me. 

Unfortunately, our favorite franchise is coming to an end (or so we think); no more clutching your stomachs in laughter or smiling during dinners thinking about the episode you just finished. 🙁

Gintama: The Very Final ranked at #1 in the Japanese box office, dethroningMugen Train’s 12-weekend streak at the top of the charts. Needless to say, this movie is a must-watch! 

Eleven Arts announced that they will be screening Gintama: The Very Final in North American theaters on 21st and 22nd November with an English subtitled and a dubbed version.

Finishing the remainder of the Silver Soul Arc, the North American region will finally get to see Hideaki Sorachi’s third Gintama anime film on the big screen!

This third and final sci-fi film earned over one billion yen within just 2 weeks of release, hitting milestones the previous two films in the franchise couldn’t!! Buy your tickets and get ready for what is arguably one of the best anime films ever!  

Also, before you dig into this main course (or dessert), don’t forget the appetizer! Gintama: The Semi-Final, a two-episode prequel to this final film that was released on the 20th of January, bridging the gap between the TV series and the film. 

Should we be saying our goodbyes, as this is the “Final” film, or should we be wary about sudden change-of-minds? 

Hideaki Sorachi’s record of trolling fans into thinking the series has reached its end has tricked us TOO many times, so there could be a chance that this is not the end (hopefully)! 

About Gintama

The story is set in an alternate-history late-Edo period, where humanity is attacked by aliens called ‘Amanto.’ Edo Japan’s samurai fight to defend Earth, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders when he realizes the aliens’ power.

He agrees to an unequal contract with the aliens, placing a ban on carrying swords in public and allowing the invaders to enter the country.

The samurai’s swords are confiscated, and the Tokugawa bakufu becomes a puppet government.

The series focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, who works as an odd-jobs freelancer. Although the story is mostly episodic, a few story arcs and recurring antagonists develop.
