Go ‘Gearless’ this Summer with MEGALOBOX 2 NOMAD This April
2021 marks the 50th anniversary of Ashita no Joe, the classic anime that brought boxing to the anime world. Now, what’s better than celebrating this event with an anime that modernizes the world-famous sport.
Joe, the Megalo Boxing champion, is back to the underground fights to reclaim his throne under an alias. It has been 7 years since he stepped down from fighting, and I wonder if he has the fighting spirit left to challenge a new generation of fighters.
TMS Entertainment has released a new trailer and visual for the sequel Megalo Box titled MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD. It will premiere on April 4, 2021, and will be streaming on Funimation.
In the trailer we see Gearless Joe return to the fighting arena after 7 long years. He is back with a new name, Nomad, to chase his dreams once again.
He is seen fighting a tough opponent who recognizes him as the former champion of Megalo Boxing and reveals that the drug will wear off soon. It seems Joe has to rely on drugs now to keep up with the younger and stronger fighters.

The animation looks nothing like a 2021 anime, and rather it resonates with the style of anime that were released in the 90s or even earlier. Maybe that’s what makes it the perfect anime to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the vintage series.
Apart from the trailer, a key visual revealing the new look of Gearless Joe has also been released. He looks a lot aged with his brown beard and moustache. A hummingbird is also seen in the visual, which may resemble his swiftness.
Megalo Box Manga Author, Sakuma Chikara Pens New Manga
This second season will portray the despair that comes with becoming the No.1. It isn’t all glitter and glory, as people start expecting more and sooner or later a new champion will arise to replace the old. We are going to witness a dark turn into the world of Megalonia.
Fans are already expecting some other notable returns from the first season such as Gansaku Nanbu and Yuri.
So, are you ready to witness Gearless Joe’s journey to the top right from the bottom once again?
