God of High School Episode 11 Review: What Did You Miss?
The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon that’s currently being made into an anime. It is gaining widespread popularity thanks to its fast-paced story and well-animated fight scenes.
Episode 10, titled “Oath/Meaning,” of God of High School webtoon, was released on Monday and displayed battles that had goosebumps rising all over our arms.
After the mind-blowing fight against the Jeju team shown in the previous episode, Nationals continued with the Seoul team facing South Jeolla.
Ilpyo’s backstory, as well as the oath he made to Taejin, made the fight even more emotional and exciting, as both he and Mori gave their all to it.
With literal swords and Gods falling out of the sky, and the Key being identified, episode 11 somehow managed to surpass even that.
1. Episode 10 Recap
Episode 10, titled “Oath/Meaning,” covered chapters 70 to 84 of the Season 2 of God of High School webtoon and had us witness some of the most outstanding fights shown to date in the series.
The episode began with an emotional flashback where we found out Park Ilpyo’s original motivation for participating in the GOH, as well as the unfortunate incident that made him change it.
Furthermore, we saw Park Mujin inform the main trio about the Jeju team imposters and their progress to the semi-finals.
With a short scene about Taek Jegal’s involvement with Nox, the Nationals proceeded with the semi-final match between the Seoul and South Jeolla teams.
With Daewi facing Seungah in the first bout, his charyeok was revealed as he won despite his opponent’s laudable efforts.
The next bout had both the leaders – Jin Mori and Park Ilpyo, stepping in, as the main event finally began.
As they fought each other, the Taekkyon user mentored him throughout the fight fulfilling his promise with Taejin.
While this was going on, chaos occurred outside the arena. Sang Mandeok, a bishop from Nox, was introduced, and his face-off with Park Mujin signaled the beginning of the war.
With a gigantic divine sword falling out of the sky, and one of the Six stopping it, the episode ended with Park Ilpyo being revealed as the Key that both sides were looking for.
2. Episode 11 Preview
Episode 11, titled “Lay/Key,” covered chapters 85-88 of the webtoon and then diverged from it.
After Ilpyo’s reveal as the Key in the last episode, this one directly launched into explaining what exactly it was.
‘Hojosa’ or the ‘Nine-Tailed Fox’ was a spirit that was appointed to be the God’s Guardian due to its immense power, but the same reason caused God to order his execution.
Outraged at this betrayal, Hojosa destroyed half of heaven and used his remaining strength to flee to Earth.
It is presumed that he was resting and laying dormant within Park Ilpyo until now.
After it awakened, Ilpyo’s hair transformed into white, and he manifested nine fiery tails.
With orange shading under his eyes, it seemed as if the Tekkyon user had applied war paint before readying himself for the fight against Mori.
I. Jin Mori Vs. Park Ilpyo
While Mori almost defeated Ilpyo before the latter took on this form, he showed great caution this time around.
With a light jump, he rushed towards his opponent, but it seemed as if the extreme transformation was not just for the show.
Ilpyo easily blocked Mori’s advances and attacked him in retaliation, with fiery foxes surrounding him. The latter was no match for the Key and was toyed with for a good 10 minutes.
When Ilpyo finally readied his last attack in order to finish this match, it triggered something within Mori as he had a black and white flashback of a time that existed long before the present.
There, it almost seemed as if he was leading a great army as he stood in the front, holding a large rod-like weapon, with people all around him.
After this, something changed within Mori. With just one hand, he managed to push Ilpyo back, and when the latter counter-attacked, with what seemed like a half-illusionary rod similar to the one in the flashback, he flung him far away from the ground.
Finally, a gigantic hand appeared before Ilpyo and slammed him into the arena, thus sealing Mori’s win.
Strongest Characters in The God of High School, Ranked!
As Mori came back to his sense after Mira and Daewi’s presence, two main things were happening simultaneously on the other side.
The first one was Park Mujin and Sang Mandeok stopping their fight midway and being astonished by Ilpyo, i.e., the Key’s loss. Suspicious of the energy spike caused due to Mori, the Nox Bishop left.
II. Activation of the Key
The second major event was Jugok Jeon (the incapacitated grandson of one of the Six) losing control and rushing at Taek Jegal.
The latter’s gruesome and deadly charyeok failed to stop Jugok this time, as despite being pierced by multiple teeth like objects, he did not stop his advances.
Right at this time, his maid made her appearance, providing Jegal with the opportunity to hurt them both severely.
It was during this point that Jugok lost the remaining shred of control and turned into a red monster that absorbed everyone near him.
Confronting Jegal, they both burst into Ilpyo’s hospital room, where Mori had just left after telling the latter about Taejin’s abduction.
Caught up in this fight, Ilpyo fought against Jugok and kept his distance from Jegal at the same time.
Just when the red monster was going to absorb the other two, his maid managed to soothe him.
This moment of peace was short-lived as Jegal finally had enough and killed Jugok. At the same time, he also sliced off Park Seungah’s leg and Hyeonbok Ryu’s arm.
This scene resembled the one in the past where Taek had done the same to Seungyeon, and Ilpyo lost control.
With Mandeok Sang calling down what seemed like hundreds of angel-like beings through a gate in the sky, the Key, and Mujin announcing the end of ‘GOH,’ the episode concluded.
Who wins the GOH National Tournament?
3. Episode 12 Predictions
Episode 11 revealed quite a lot, such as the identity of the Key, but also raised a lot of questions.
What exactly was the flashback that Mori saw? What was that strange power, and who did the gigantic hand belong to?
While all of these will remain unanswered for a while, the reason behind Jegal and Jugok’s actions will be revealed in episode 12.
Furthermore, we will see a war break out on a scale never seen before, as The Six, along with others, will confront Nox in order to take possession of the Key.
What is Nox?
