God of High School Episode 5 Review – Daewi Vs. Mori
The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon that’s currently being adapted into an anime. The fifth episode of the series that came out on Monday was the peak of this arc, and arguably the best episode yet.
After the extremely fast-paced episode 4, where we saw a series of events ranging from Mira’s wedding to her getting absolutely demolished by Daewi in the GOH Arena.
GOH episode 5, titled “Ronde/Hound,” kicks off from the 30th chapter of the webtoon and ends at the end of chapter 38.
We finally see the long-awaited fight between Jin Mori and Han Daewi, and with mind-boggling animations, let’s talk about why this might just be the best episode yet.
1. Episode 4 Recap
Episode 3 of “God of High School” titled “marriage/bongs” picked up with the announcement of the GOH Seoul preliminaries semifinals.
The top 4 participants included Yoo Mira, Han Daewi, Jin Mori, and Byeon Jaehee, and the next fight would be between the first two.
The scene then shifts to show Mori, Daewi, and Mira walking, where the latter is suddenly approached by Seongjin, the strongest martial artist and businessman representing South Korea’s sports entertainment scene, who asks her to marry him.
Seongjin’s promise to revitalize and make Moon Light Sword Style preeminent around the world in exchange aligns with what Mira’s late father wanted, and in extension, with Mira. She agrees to marry him and withdraws her name from the Seoul GOH preliminaries.
The next scene takes us to Mira’s wedding day, where she is walking down the aisle; however, in true Mori fashion, our main character, aided by Han Daewi, confronts Mira.
After a few flashbacks about her childhood, her uncle’s wishes, and a classic Yoo Mira style attack, the wedding is terminated.
While it seemed like a happy ending, with our leading trio sporting smiles, the next scene shows us a badly beaten Mira struggling on the GOH arena.
The culprit, Han Daewi, exits after promising Mori to see him in the finals, and in the latest episode, we see him doing exactly that.

2. Episode 5 Review
Episode 5 of “God of High School” titled “Ronde/Hound,” released on Monday, kicks off with the next match in the semifinals – Jin Mori Vs. Byeon Jaehee.
While Mori’s Renewal Taekwondo and Beyon’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu made up for a thrilling fight in the webtoon, it was almost entirely cut off from the anime.
Instead of a challenging set of rounds, we saw Mori almost immediately one-shotting Jaehee. While this match was indeed disappointing, what was next in line definitely made up for it.
Mori’s win in this battle meant that he now faced Han Daewi in the finals. However, while we understandably cannot wait for this ultimate showdown, let’s talk a bit about the previous match between Daewi and Mira.
In the first match of the Semi-Finals, instead of an honorable fight between two friends, we saw the former brutally beating Mira, and giving her zero chance to counter-attack.
What Did Mori Eat in Episode 3 of The God of High School?
While we all thought that there was something off about Daewi, we finally know the reason why. Apparently, his friend was in critical condition, and the only way Daewi could save him was by ruthlessly defeating his opponents and proving his worth to the organizer, Park Mujin.
In hopes of saving his friend, both in his fight against Mira and Mori, Daewi abandons his “chivalrous” fighting style and gets right down to business. The finale begins, and this classic showdown finally takes off!
The fight just barely begins, when we already see both of them unleashing a barrage of attacks, neither of them yielding an inch. Despite there being a slight difference in raw skill, Daewi makes up for it with his stubborn conviction and overpowers Mori with his Secret Art: Form of the Four Guardian Gods.
However, what’s a fight without a certain amount of angst peppered in? Daewi shockingly takes advantage of Mori, who has extended his hand to him and reveals that he has never thought of them as his friends. While we know that Daewi is doing all he can to win at this moment, this line still hurts!
Almost as if adding salt to our wounds, the next scene shows us Woo-Seungtae, Daewi’s friend, taking his last breath. After the latter is informed about this mid-match, he loses all of his desire and conviction to win this match, which was honestly the only thing that kept him going.
At this moment, I’m sure all of us wanted to shout at him to chin up and look at the friends he had denounced just moments ago, and Mira fulfills all of our wishes by doing exactly that!
The moment after Mira shouts and hands him a letter from Seungtae, Daewi realizes that while he has lost one friend, he still has two more fools around him. This moment signals the start of the most epic fight that has taken place, and while Daewi finally loses, both him and Mori sport enormous smiles.
After the ending song and credits, we see one final scene where Daewi leaves a picture of the main trio beside his friend’s, which is signed “I’m not alone.” This was one emotionally heavy episode for sure.
The beautifully animated fighting sequences, with the smoothly portrayed backstories, make episode 5 one of the best GOH episodes released to date.
3. Episode 6 Expectations & Predictions
Episode 6 of “God of High School” will probably pick up with the GOH National tournament, with each district’s team participating. The main matches will finally take place, and the scale will dramatically increase.
