God of High School Episode 8 Review
The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon that’s currently being made into an anime. It is gaining widespread popularity thanks to its fast-paced story and well-animated fight scenes.
Episode 8 of “God of High School” titled “Anima/Force,” was released on Monday.
Unlike the previous episode, despite not showing the main trio in action, it managed to capture our attention by signaling the start of a great war.
It also featured emotionally heavy moments, backstories, and amazing fights between other characters.
In this article, I will be discussing every single fight and event that took place and lay down my predictions for the next one!
1. Episode 7 Recap
Episode 7, titled “Anima/Force,” covered chapters 42 to 47 of the Season 2 of God of High School webtoon and brought a conclusion to the previous battles.
There were three main events of significant importance that occurred.
First, right off the bat, we saw the starting fight between North Chungcheong and Seoul.
In the first bout, Mori faced Nah Gidong and lost after pressing the wrong pressure points. The second bout was between Daewi and Jin Pumkwang, with the former taking the win.
The final round between Mira and Jang Jangmi was won by the moonlight user, and therefore, the Seoul team won the battle.
After the first match concluded, the announcer signaled the start of the fight between Group B’s first two teams – South Gyeongsang and North Jeolla.
Without any delay, the first bout was between the respective team leaders, Taek Jegal and Jugok Jeon. The latter was overwhelmed by his opponent’s monstrous Charkeyok and almost killed.
While the Nationals were going on, at the same time, another fight was taking place.
This brings us to the second main event, the fight between Commissioner Q and the Nox assassin Drake, with both sides getting reinforcements.
With Drake being sidelined, an intense fight then took place between Priest Exly, Priest Saturn, & Commissioner Q, and O. The latter team overwhelmed the Nox members, who then managed to escape.
The last event of significant importance was the conclusion to Taejin Jin and Nox’s fight. It is believed that the mountain shattering (literally) battle resulted in Mori’s grandfather’s loss, judging from his arm left at the scene.
God of High School Episode 7 Review: What did you miss?
Episode 8 further elaborates on these three events as we continue onwards with the next fight in the “GOH” Nationals.
2. Episode 8 Review
Episode 7, titled “Close/Friend,” covered chapters 55 to 60 of the Season 2 of God of High School webtoon and began with the next match in the Nationals.
But before that, we saw the conclusion to the match between South Gyeongsang and North Jeolla.
I. Nationals
With Taek Jegal, leader of the former team going berserk, two of the Jeolla district’s members were fatally injured, and barely escaped with their lives.
The remaining one surrendered, and South Gyeongsang took the win.
While Taek Jegal should have been disqualified due to his actions, in a conversation between Park Mujin and Jaeson Jeon, it was revealed that there’s a possibility that he might be the “key,” and hence he was allowed to proceed.
After the electric opening song, we directly saw the second match in Group A between South Jeolla and South Chungcheong, with the former team’s Cha Seokwoo already clinching victory in the first bout.
The next fighters in the arena were Namgung Do and Park Seungah.
Here we saw the strategic side of Park Ilpyo – their leader, as after following his instructions, Seungah easily defeated her opponent with just a quick kick to his shin.
With the second bout being won by South Chungcheong, both the team leaders got ready to face it out in the last round.
While this match was going on, team Seoul, i.e., Mira, Mori, and Daewi, observed and scouted out their next opponents.
Another piece of information was revealed, that as expected, Daewi was suspended from participating due to his interference in the previous match.
Finally, in order to secure a ticket to the semifinals, Gwim Gi and Park Ilpyp, both leaders entered the arena. With an aura of intimidation crackling between them, the match started!
Right off the bat, we saw Ilpypo using Taekkyon, an antiquated martial arts style, to unleash a flurry of attacks and knock his opponent down.
However, his opponent soon got back up and started using the newly introduced Charyeok to overwhelm him.
While that worked for a while, Ilpyo easily overcame it without using his borrowed powers and won the fight.

II. Jin Taejin’s Fate & Connection to Park Ilpyo
With this victory, Mira, Mori, and Daewi will be facing South Chungcheong in the next match, and it won’t be easy this time.
As the Karate master is out of the equation, the result will fall upon the other two.
During their walk home, Mira and Daewi discussed about learning Charyeok, while Mori, who was behaving unusually, excused himself and went his own way.
It turned out that Mori’s grandfather, Jin Taejin, was attacked, and his bloodstains were left all over the battlefield. Judging by them, the chances of him being alive are slim.
While Mori showed confidence in his only relative, naturally, doubts about his safety started creeping upon him.
At this moment, he was pulled out from his thoughts as Ilpyo made his appearance, and extended an apparent hand in greeting to Mori.
As soon as the latter took it, he attacked, which resulted in a quick skirmish between them ending in a draw. Classic introduction, am I right?
Anyways, with no hard feelings between them after this, Mori asked Ilpyo about the tiger symbol on his back, which resembled Taejin’s military uniform.
In answer, we saw a flashback as Ilpyo reiterated his sob story, sorry, tragic past, where Taejin met and handed him a book containing Taekkyon secrets.
Mori’s grandfather was a friend of Ilpyo’s grandfather, and after the latter died saving the world, he was meant to pass down this book to his son.
However, caught up with something, it was only then that Taejin managed to hand it to his friend’s grandson instead.
While both Mori and Ilpyo were reminiscing, in true GOH fashion, with not a dull moment in between, Taek Jegal attacked them.
It seems as if he shared some history with the Taekkyon user, and after a small showdown, he went his way. Soon after, Ilpyo took his leave too, as Mori sat there frustrated with his lack of power.
III. The Beginning of War
While this was happening, after his fight with Nox members, commissioner Q burst into Park Mujin’s office and did what we all wanted to do – ask why he did not protect Sim Bongsa’s wife and infant son.
Well, he tried to but was immediately shown his place as almost effortlessly, Mujin pushed him back.
One highlight of his suffering was that we found out that what Nox killed were mere puppets, and Sim Bongsa’s family was safe.
After this, the next scenes showed Daewi asking Q to teach him how to use Charyeok, and Mori desperately training himself.
This was perfectly in accordance with the next scene, as the main antagonists for this arc – Nox, were shown to officially move out to destroy the “key.”
With both the “heroes” and “villains” powering up, it was finally time to go to war. What war we’re still not aware of, but no doubt, the next few episodes will definitely be something to look forward to.
What is Nox?
IV. Birthday Celebrations and a Tragic Gift
However, this episode had not ended yet, as we saw Mira, Daewi, and Mori celebrating the latter’s birthday, and lightening up the gloomy atmosphere surrounding him.
With emotional flashbacks, hilarious moments, and classic “I want to fight you” declarations, this small celebration was a success.
While “God of High School” could have ended it here, they, of course, did not do so and trampled on our hearts once again.
The last scene put a dampener on our moods, as Mori opened a latter and found the picture of his grandfather chained up.
Despite not being as action-focused as the last, this episode managed to capture our attention by signaling the start of a war.
3. Episode 9 Predictions
The next episode will probably show Mori trying to help his grandfather. This event will snowball and build up to the actual fight between Nox and the protagonists.
New characters will also be introduced, as Nationals will further proceed with the next match featuring our main trio i.e., the Seoul team.
We will also see the results of their training, as this episode is predicted to be just as action-packed as the previous ones.
Keep a lookout for its updates on this site!
