The anime itself inspired many series, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Code Geass, and became a guiding light of new genres that we see today, such as idol and music anime (yup, we wouldn’t have K-on! without Gundam!).
Even after so many years, Gundam is still alive and kicking, and if we count how many anime series it has, we will be here all day!
Recently, Bandai Namco announced the “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Project ignited.” This is an initiative to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Gundam Seed television series.
It will include many projects and will be spearheaded by a theatrical release of a sequel film to the Seed anime series.
The film’s staff is led by Mitsuo Fukuda, the original director of the Gundam Seed television series. As of now, the film has entered the production stage. We will update further details as soon as they are public.

Under the “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Project ignited,” Bandai Namco announced a new video game for the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” series. The staff will announce further details soon.
The initiative also includes the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Eclipse side-story manga that will be launched in July 2021 as the new Mobile Suit Variation project.
