Gyoko no Nikuko-chan Movie Posted a Touching Theme Song by Prodigy Singer

Gyoko no Nikuko-chan, the upcoming anime film, is sure to strike a chord with your heart. Every teaser that has been revealed about the anime so far, has attracted me to its beautiful storytelling.

With its release date just around the corner, the anime has released an adorable music video. The story portrays the dynamics between Nikuko and her daughter, Cocomi, who live in a small fishing town.

Gyoko no Nikuko-chan anime movie will premiere on 11th June in Japanese theatres. The film has just revealed a new music video for the theme song, “Image no Uta.” Kurumi Inagaki, the 10-year old singer, is lending her voice for this song.

“Image no Uta” is actually the debut single of the famous singer and composer Takuro Yoshida. Inagaki’s innocent and powerful voice in the song’s cover resounds in our hearts; it feels nostalgic as if we are back in our childhood days.

The video opens with Miu worrying about young Nikuko, who is easily deceived by men. Days go past, and Nikuko and her daughter are now living peacefully in the fishing town. Nikuko is happy to work at the yakiniku shop and eat good food with her daughter.

Sassan, the yakiniku shop’s owner, watches over the mother-daughter duo with affection as if they are his own family.

It portrays the neatly woven lives of everyone in the small town. Cocomi’s growing up is sure to make you a bit teary-eyed.

About Gyokō no Nikuko-chan

Gyokō no Nikuko-chan is a Japanese novel written by Kanako Nishi and published by Gentosha in April 2014. An anime film adaptation by Studio 4°C will premiere in Japan on June 11, 2021.

The story of Gyoko no Nikuko-chan is about a mother and daughter who live on a boat, and follows them as they grow and set out on their paths through life.

Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea) is directing the adaptation, with Satomi Ooshima on the script and Kenichi Konishi handling character designs and chief animation direction.
