Hasan Minhaj is Back: Joins Cast of The Morning Show S2
A new member is joining the UBA network! Hasan Minhaj has signed up to play a new character in the second season of AppleTV’s hit series The Morning Show. According to Deadline, he will play Eric, a young rising star and a new member of The Morning Show team. The first season of the show premiered in November 2019 to generally positive reactions.
The Morning Show is based on the competitive world of TV journalism. It follows Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), the host of the popular breakfast news program The Morning Show on the UBA network. When her on-air partner, Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), is fired due to allegations of sexual misconduct, Alex has to fight to keep her job. She develops a rivalry with fellow journalist Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), a reckless field reporter.
The series is based on American journalist and New York Times reporter Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.
The role on The Morning Show will be Hasan Minhaj’s first dramatic role. He is better known for his comedy and his political commentary show Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. The show debuted on Netflix in 2017 and ran for six seasons, during which it won an Emmy award. However, Netflix canceled Patriot Act in August 2020.
The Morning Show also stars Billy Crudup, Gugu-Mbatha Raw, Mark Duplass, Jack Davenport, Nestor Carbonell, and Karen Pittman.
No official date for the premiere of the second season of The Morning Show has been announced by AppleTV yet.
